Couple Celebrates 60th Wedding Anniversary

Clyde and Eva Jordan will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary on November 14 at the Masonic Village in Elizabethtown. They were married in 1945 in Cumberland, Md. Their first meeting was a blind date set up by their best friends. The majority of their courtship was by corresponding from Europe to Pittsburgh by using V-Mail, a system widely used in the latter years of WWII.

Mr. Jordan served in the Army for three years as a courier and was stationed in Europe. He worked for 37 years for Armco Steel, Lyndora. He is a member of Kittanning East Brady Masonic Lodge No. 244, VFW, American Legion, New Castle Consistory, and the Pittsburgh Syria Shrine. Mr. Jordan serves as president of the Masonic Village Resident's Council.

Mrs. Jordan is a member of the Eastern Star New Bethlehem Chapter No. 230. She worked at J.C. Penney, Butler.

Mr. and Mrs. Jordan are faithful volunteers at Masonic Village. They both belong to Sell Chapel Congregation, Elizabethtown.

Their secret for a happy marriage is communication, "First and foremost!" The Jordans have three sons; Robert, of Butler, Pa., Kirk, of Belleville, Ill., and Paul, of Fort Worth, Texas. They have six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
