Couple Celebrates 60th Wedding Anniversary
|
Clyde and Eva Jordan will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary on
November 14 at the Masonic Village in Elizabethtown. They were married in 1945 in
Cumberland, Md. Their first meeting was a blind date set up by their best friends.
The majority of their courtship was by corresponding from Europe to Pittsburgh by
using V-Mail, a system widely used in the latter years of WWII.
Mr. Jordan served in the Army for three years as a courier and was stationed in Europe. He
worked for 37 years for Armco Steel, Lyndora. He is a member of Kittanning East Brady
Masonic Lodge No. 244, VFW, American Legion, New Castle Consistory, and the Pittsburgh
Syria Shrine. Mr. Jordan serves as president of the Masonic Village Resident's Council.
Mrs. Jordan is a member of the Eastern Star New Bethlehem Chapter No. 230. She
worked at J.C. Penney, Butler.
Mr. and Mrs. Jordan are faithful volunteers at Masonic Village. They both belong to
Sell Chapel Congregation, Elizabethtown.
Their secret for a happy marriage is communication, "First and foremost!"
The Jordans have three sons; Robert, of Butler, Pa., Kirk, of Belleville, Ill., and Paul, of Fort
Worth, Texas. They have six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
