Village Happenings (October 2005)

For the second year, Elizabethtown and Lafayette Hill residents got together at the Patton Pool in Elizabethtown to enjoy an afternoon of food, swimming and socialization.

Sewickley residents John Haught and Bill Baltzer complete the second podium built in the Masonic Village Woodshop. The first podium is being used in the Assembly Room in the Clubhouse. The new podium will replace the old one in the Star Points Building.

Elizabethtown residents who participated in the 2005 Lancaster County Senior Games gather for a picnic to share their success stories. This year, 29 residents participated in the games. Elizabethtown boasted 22 1st place winners, six 2nd place winners and 13 3rd place winners.

On August 17, Sewickley retirement living residents enjoyed the first-ever Summer Festival, complete with a roasted pig, grilled shrimp, steamed corn on the cob, salads and delicious desserts; bocce, croquet and horseshoes; country line dancing; and a morning golf tournament, won by residents Don Brainerd, Mary Lou Keller and Henry Shockey. The event was chaired by resident Deane Hillegass (pictured above). Thanks to Deane and everyone else who made this an unforgettable day!

With fellow resident Bill Long by her side, Elizabethtown resident Evelyn Seekamp jumps for joy after her horse wins the Horse Race to benefit the Rev. A. Preston Van Deursen Scholarship Fund for Masonic Children's Home residents.

Lafayette Hill residents June Maag, Inez Tweston and Lois Caddock enjoy fresh fruit and beverages at the recent Gazebo Party.

Pastor Preston Van Deursen and Elizabethtown residents Lee and John Heile, Bill Frankhouser and June Allen of the Sell Chapel Outreach Committee present a check for $2,600 to Vicki Dolan, director of the Children's Workshop of Lancaster County. This is Sell Chapel's third donation to the organization to help fund its teen mother program.
