MASONIC VILLAGE AT DALLAS RECEIVES APPROVALS, CONTINUES TO MOVE FORWARD WITH CONSTRUCTION

The Masonic Village at Dallas received approval for its Planned Residential Development and conditional final plan approval from Dallas Township Tuesday for construction of its retirement community planned on the grounds of the Irem Country Club.

According to Joseph E. Murphy, chief executive officer for the Masonic Villages of the Grand Lodge of Pennsylvania, which operate four other retirement communities in Pennsylvania, "We are looking forward with great excitement toward continuing our construction efforts in cooperation with the Irem leadership and community officials," he said. "We expect to meet the conditions recommended by the township and other requirements, and move full-steam ahead so our first residents can move in before the end of this year."

The Masonic Village at Dallas will be an active adult retirement community, with its first phase offering 45 apartments and 38 cottages featuring various floor plans. The master plan for the community includes future possible development of up to 222 additional retirement living accommodations, based on demand, as well as future enhancements to the country club buildings and grounds.

"We believe our community will be successful because not only do we come to Dallas with more than 100 years' experience in providing services to seniors, but we have established partnerships with quality local healthcare providers that will offer our residents the full continuum of services they may need or desire," Murphy said. This arrangement provides residents with peace of mind should they need additional care or services in the future. Residents of the community also will have preferred access to any of the Masonic Villages' four other retirement communities located across the Commonwealth, should their health needs change. "This concept makes our community not only financially viable, but also affordable," he said.

Entrance fees begin at $91,800 and monthly service fees start at around $550 per month.

"What makes us unique is that we're able to offer our residents the opportunity to develop this community with us and craft their individual lifestyles by selecting from the abundant recreational, cultural, educational, social and wellness opportunities available in this area," said Colleen Burns, administrator for the Masonic Village at Dallas. "This is carefree living to its fullest."

Murphy credited the Masonic Villages' relationship with the Irem Country Club as being integral to establishing ties within the local community as well as providing an optimal location for the retirement community. The two entities first announced their intentions to work together in March 2005.

Rich Bellmont, Potentate of the Irem Shrine, said, "We are pleased to be working hand-in-hand with the Masonic Village to provide needed services to seniors in this area and further enhance the services provided through the country club," he said.

The Masonic Village at Dallas will offer marketing presentations on September 27 and October 11 at the Irem Country Club, September 20 at the Holiday Inn in Wilkes-Barre and September 28 at the East Mountain Inn in Wilkes-Barre. All presentations begin at 10 a.m. and are followed by a luncheon. Individuals interested in attending to learn more about the retirement community should make reservations by calling the Masonic Village at Dallas at (866) 851-4243.
