The Masonic Village at Elizabethtown lost a beloved companion/therapy dog on June 9, 2004.
Daisy, a Golden Retriever, was a New Life Assistance Dog (NLAD) raised for 18 months by retirement living residents Bro. Howard and Elizabeth Wittel, learning socialization skills and basic obedience training as a service dog.
Masonic Village purchased Daisy from NLAD on August 1, 2001, as part of the Eden AlternativeTM philosophy.
Until the time of her death, Daisy was a daytime resident companion/therapy dog on Roosevelt 3 in the Masonic Health Care Center, cared for overnight and weekends by Beth Bossert, Director of Nursing; retirement living residents Ken and Betty Stout; and the Wittels.
Daisy visited residents in the Freemasons Building and the residential living areas and was a familiar presence to residents, staff and friends on the Masonic Village campus.
On June 14, Pastor Margaret Rohnacher held a memorial service for the specially loved friend of all who knew her. She will be greatly missed.
