Angels Make Dreams Come True!

What do you do with $10,000 in profits from the sale of handmade angel pins?

If you're Elizabethtown resident Elaine Bleiler, the answer is obvious. Do what angels would do -- make dreams come true!

At the crack of dawn on May 1, six residents and three staff of the Residential Cottage departed from the Masonic Village at Elizabethtown for the journey of a lifetime - a cruise to Bermuda! They took a van to the Lancaster bus terminal, and from there a bus to New York City, where they boarded the Celebrity cruise ship, Zenith, for what would be a seven-day voyage.

The vacationers enjoyed the many amenities of cruising through the Caribbean... endless buffets, music and dancing, shows, movies and, of course, lounging poolside on the deck.

At a stop in Hamilton, Bermuda, they visited Horseshoe Bay, known for its beautiful pink sand, Gibbs Hill Lighthouse and shopping. They also visited St. George, a quaint town with cobblestone streets and many stores perfect for finding souvenirs. King's Square was a delight, with historical re-enactments and activities and the sounds of Scottish bagpipes.

Deb Bleiler, who has been on numerous other cruises with her parents, said one of the highlights of her trip was when she hit the jackpot at the nickel machine in the ship's casino.

Jerry Edgerton savored the grilled sirloin steak, being in the clear, beautiful water and looking at the moon.

Residents Rodney Troutman and Beth Weiman and staff Donna Beals, Ronette Longenecker, Deb Fogleman, Cassandra Querry and Nancy Burkett chose to stay behind and keep the home fires burning until the vacationers returned on May 8.

The travelers all had a wonderful time and are grateful for the time and effort that Mrs. Bleiler put into her angel pins to be able to give the residents and staff a "heavenly" gift of a lifetime. They also would like to extend a special thank you to Concordia Lodge No. 67, Jenkintown, and Lodge No. 9, for each contributing $500 toward the trip, as well as spending money for the cottage residents.

"Elaine has often said that our house is full of angels," said Missy Kilmer, Program Coordinator, "but she is an angel in our eyes!"
