Couple Celebrates
60th Wedding Anniversary

Aulay and Isabel Tompkins will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary on June 29 at the Masonic Village in Elizabethtown, Pa. They were married in 1946 in Boyertown, Pa.

They met on a blind date that was arranged by a co-worker.

Stationed in Germany, Mr. Tompkins served for four years in the Army as a tank driver for the 3rd Armored Division. After the service, he worked for Sperry-New Holland, New Holland, Pa., for 29 years. He is a member of the Reading Masonic Lodge No. 529. He enjoys reading, especially books about the Civil War.

Mrs. Tompkins, formerly Isabel Hartman, is a member of the Hershey Order of Eastern Star Chapter No. 521. She worked as a R.N. and a surgical nurse at Reading Hospital and then as a private duty nurse. She enjoys sewing and reading medical journals.

They both belong to the United Church of Christ in Boyertown, Pa.

They have two children, Anne L. Kent, of Lebanon, Pa., and Gary, of Sinking Springs, Pa., three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Their secret to their happy marriage is to have common interests. They will be celebrating with family and friends at Masonic Village.
