|
Mrs. Edna M. Schmoyer, a resident of the Masonic Village in Elizabethtown, Pa., will celebrate her 100th birthday on May 17.
Mrs. Schmoyer is a native of Hereford Township, Pa. She has fond memories growing up on a farm and tending to her daily chores, including milking cows, feeding horses and chickens and standing guard over the sheep with her dog named Shep.
She enjoyed cooking, baking and preserving jellies. Mrs. Schmoyer was a familiar face at the Kutztown Folk Festival, volunteering her culinary skills. As a member of the Huffs Church Ladies' Aid Society, she lent a hand cooking dinners at their many functions.
Her oyster pie recipe is still a favorite. She also was a member of the Berks County Senior Citizens' Council, Huffs Church Senior Citizens Club and the Senior
Citizens Club of the Tompton Area.
Retired from Rodale Manufacturing Company, Emmaus, Pa., Mrs. Schmoyer
worked as a machine operator.
Mrs. Schmoyer and her late husband, Clarence, raised three children,
Naomi Geist, of
Macungie, Pa.; Earl, of Allentown, Pa.; and Warren, deceased. She has six
grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. As a woman of great faith, she reads her Bible
daily and watches gospel programs.
