Gilson's Celebrates 60th Wedding
Anniversary
George and Ursula Gilson, residents of Masonic Village in Lafayette Hill,
Pa., will celebrate
their 60th wedding anniversary on April 27.
They were married in 1946 at Grace Presbyterian Church, Jenkintown, Pa.
They first
met at a VFW during a Veteran's welcome dance. Six months later, they were
married.
Mr. Gilson served four years in the Navy, stationed in Newport, R.I. He
worked 43 years in
the baking industry in sales and marketing for Freihoffer, in Philadelphia,
and Schmidt Baking
Company, in Salisbury, Md. Mr. Gilson is a member of barbershop choruses and
quartets, Fritz
Masonic Lodge No. 308, Lulu Shrine, Legion of Honor and Ben Franklin and
Allentown
Consistories.
Mrs. Gilson, formerly Ursula Farrell, is a graduate of Abington
Memorial Hospital. She
worked as a registered nurse for 40 years.
They are members of Willow Grove Baptist Church.
Their secret for a happy marriage is "togetherness and understanding."
The Gilson's have three daughters: Terrie Kirby, of Calabash, N.C.; Bonnie
Ramsey, of
Marietta, Ga.; and Dorothy Walter, of Horsham, Pa.; seven grandchildren and
two great-
grandchildren.
They will celebrate with their entire family in North Carolina.
Twesten's Celebrates 60th Wedding Anniversary
Charles and Inez Twesten, residents of Masonic Village in Lafayette
Hill, Pa., will also celebrate
their 60th wedding anniversary on April 27.
They were married in 1946 at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, in Norwood,
Pa. They
were introduced by Mr. Twesten's sister, Marion.
Mr. Twesten served three years in the Air Force, stationed in Molesworth,
England. He was
discharged as a Corporal in 1945. A member of Prospect Masonic Lodge No.
578, Mr. Twesten
worked as a plumber for 20 years.
Mrs. Twesten, formally Inez Boal, was a housewife. She enjoys knitting,
crocheting, reading
and working on puzzles.
They are both members of St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Glassboro, N.J.,
where Mr.
Twesten served as a vestryman and Mrs. Twesten served as president for the
Woman's Guild.
Mrs. Twesten also served as president for the Century Club of Norwood.
Their secret for a happy marriage is expressing attitudes of "love, respect and concern and having mutual interests."
The Twesten's have two children: Judith Eckard, of Media, Pa.; and Robert,
of Tucson,
Ariz.; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
They will celebrate at a restaurant with family and friends.
