Staff Spotlight - Meet Trisha Lamb
|
When Bernard Meltzer said, "Use those talents you have… You will give joy to the world," Trisha Lamb, activities director at Warminster, must have been listening.
"I have been dabbling in art and music since I was a child," Trisha shared. "I have been drawing for as long as I can remember and participated in various choral groups and musicals in high school."
Trisha has a degree in painting from the Maryland Institute, College of Art, and a Master's degree in Humanities. "In college, I focused on oil painting in the style of the Renaissance masters, which is a more traditional style. I even lived and studied in Italy for one semester. I am excited to now share my knowledge with my residents through art classes and other programs."
Two years ago, Trisha took up a new hobby - playing the harp. She found a harp therapy course at a local college and signed up. "I have tried other instruments in the past without success, everything from the clarinet to the trombone, but the harp is different." Warminster residents benefit from Trisha's new-found talent, as she uses her harp to provide a type of music therapy for the residents.
In addition to her pursuit of the arts and music, Trisha has a love for travel, which she shares with her husband, Tom. Together, they have traveled to four of the seven continents, "… and plan to see them all eventually!" she said. Their travels have taken them to China, England, Scotland and, most recently, Argentina.
"When I return from a trip, I share my experiences with the residents through cultural programs. I bring back food to share and music to listen to and teach the residents the local language. They have had Chinese and Spanish language lessons so far."
Trisha also is the "foster mom" to one of Warminster's newest residents - Rusty, the Golden Retriever - who joined the Eden Alternative™ program at the facility.
Trisha Lamb plays the harp for residents in Warminster.
