Couple Celebrates 61st Wedding Anniversary

Alexander and K. Lois Kowal will celebrate their 61st wedding anniversary on Feb. 5 at the Masonic Village in Lafayette Hill, Pa. They were married in 1944 in Convington, Tenn.

They met at church as children, attending several of the same church activities. Throughout the years, their friendship blossomed. Mr. Kowal proposed to Mrs. Kowal while he was on furlough from the U.S. Army Air Force in November 1943. He served for four years in the Air Transport Command in the Azor Islands.

Church continued to be a large part of their lives. Mr. Kowal is a former deacon, trustee and Sunday school supervisor. Mrs. Kowal participated in choirs and played piano.

They are members of the Family Worship Center in Port Royal.

Mr. Kowal retired from Hardwick and McGee Textiles, Philadelphia. An avid reader, Mr. Kowal enjoys studying the Bible. He is a member of William L. Elkins Masonic Lodge No. 271.

Mrs. Kowal retired from Mailing Service, Inc., Philadelphia. She enjoys handiwork, crocheting and needlepoint.

Their secret to a successful marriage is their mutual faith in God.

They have one daughter, Sandi Groth, of Norristown, Pa.

The Kowal's will celebrate by dining out with friends.
