Questions & Answers - Assisted Living and Nursing Services

Must I have a minimum amount of assets to be eligible for admission to the Masonic Village at Lafayette Hill?

No. There is no required amount of money necessary to enter the assisted living or nursing services areas. However, the Masonic Village at Lafayette Hill does require that all applicants maintain eligibility for Medical Assistance, Medicare, and other third-party payers by not transferring or giving away assets. Medical Assistance guidelines indicate that they will look back 36 months for transfer of assets.

If my funds deplete, will I be asked to leave the Masonic Village at Lafayette Hill?

No. As long as you abide by the rules and regulations of the Masonic Village at Lafayette Hill and maintain your eligibility for Medical Assistance and other third-party reimbursement, you will not be required to leave.

If my assets have depleted, how much money will I receive on a monthly basis?

In the assisted living area, you will receive a monthly amount of $60 to take care of incidental expenses, such as stamps, long distance phone calls, etc. In the nursing services area, residents receive a monthly amount of $30. These funds can be deposited into a personal account provided by the Finance Department.

Are a power of attorney and a living will required for admission?

Although not a requirement, we do encourage all residents to have a general, durable power of attorney and a living will. It is important to have someone to make medical and financial decisions should you become unable to do so.
