Masonic Villages History

A Tradition of Service & Caring

The Masonic Villages share a solid tradition of providing quality services to our Family of Freemasonry and our communities. Below is a brief history on each community and how we became one caring family.

The Masonic Village at Elizabethtown was founded as the Masonic Homes of the Grand Lodge of Pennsylvania in 1910.

The Masonic Village at Warminster was founded in 1929 by the Grand Chapter of Pennsylvania, Order of the Eastern Star, as the Eastern Star Home-East, and affiliated with the Masonic Homes of the Grand Lodge of Pennsylvania in 1998.

The Masonic Village at Sewickley has grown since the Valley Care Association founded the Valley Care Nursing Home in 1984. This community joined the Masonic Homes of the Grand Lodge of Pennsylvania in 1999, and residents and staff of the former Eastern Star Home-West moved into the village in 2001. It is now a continuing care retirement community.

The Masonic Village at Lafayette Hill was founded as the Masonic Home of Pennsylvania in 1884 and united with the Masonic Villages of the Grand Lodge of Pennsylvania in 2004.

On January 1, 2004, the Masonic Homes became the Masonic Villages of the Grand Lodge of Pennsylvania.

In the future, this page will include links to more detailed articles and a more extensive history of this great tradition of caring.
