The Masonic Temple On-Line
New Hours for the Historic Masonic Temple
If you have recently watched National Treasure on television or seen the film in the theater, many questions undoubtedly arise about Freemasonry in American History. You can have these questions answered, and learn much more, by visiting Philadelphia's treasured Masonic Temple.

Built in 1873, the Masonic Temple is a National Historic Landmark, and is open for tours on Mondays-Fridays, beginning at 11 am, 11 am, 2 pm and 3 pm (additional tours may be added at 10 am & 4 pm), on Saturdays at 10 am and 11 am (there may be an additional 12 pm Noon tour), or at other times through advance arrangements. The tours explore the mysteries of the Masonic Temple, which is a magnificent example of architecture, art and history. The escorted tours will walk visitors through the splendid corridors and majestic lodge halls with their impressive collection of paintings, statuary, stained glass, murals and exquisite furnishings enhanced by the beautiful richness of the building's architectural features. The basic admission is $8.00 for adults, with discounts offered for seniors, students, active military, children, families and groups of 15 or more. The building is also available for special events.

The building's library contains one of the finest collections for the study of American History and Freemasonry, which is the oldest continuously existing fraternal organization in the world. The library, with over 75,000 volumes and 30,000 documents, prints, photographs and manuscripts, is open Tuesday-Friday, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m., or at other times by special arrangements. There is a $3.00 per person admission/research fee.

The Masonic Temple is located at One North Broad Street, directly across from Philadelphia City Hall, and is accessible for the disabled. Public transportation and parking are available nearby. For additional information, call (215) 988-1900.
