From the main hallway facing Juniper Street, the Rear Staircase rises to the second and third floors of the Temple. The stairway is a massive structure of iron and represents the Doric school of architecture. The staircase, with its heavy iron railing and ebony handrail, is flanked by wainscoting of Lisbon marble.

In 1958, two modern self-service elevators were installed just off the rear staircase which leads to Norman, Egyptian and Ionic halls on the second floor. The staircase continues to the third floor and Gothic Hall. On three sides of the upperstaircase, the towering walls are painted with scenes depicting life in ancient times.
