Andrew A. Zellers-Frederick - Executive Director

Andrew A. Zellers-Frederick Andrew A. Zellers-Frederick of Warminster, Pa., was recently appointed to the position of executive director of The Masonic Library and Museum of Pennsylvania, according to Ronald A. Aungst, Sr., Right Worshipful Grand Master and chairman of the board of directors. The Masonic Library and Museum, located within the Masonic Temple at One North Broad Street in Philadelphia, Pa., is a non-profit corporation which avails its extensive literary and historical collections to the public, as well as tours of the building's historic architecture.

As executive director, Zellers-Frederick's responsibilities will include implementing a strategic marketing, public relations and community outreach plan to promote the Masonic Temple as a valued cultural, architectural and historical asset, thereby providing additional opportunities to share its educational resources and facilities. He will manage the staff and daily operations of The Masonic Library and Museum; oversee events and tours; and assist in fundraising efforts to secure the long-term preservation of the Masonic Temple, recognized as a national historic monument, and its collections.

Zellers-Frederick brings with him an extensive background of involvement with historical organizations. His most recent position was executive director of Historic RittenhouseTown Inc., an organization dedicated to the preservation and interpretation of Historic RittenhouseTown, a National Historic Landmark District in Philadelphia. His interest in history and its preservation led him to positions at The Franklin Mint, Franklin Center, Pa.; the National Park Service, including such prestigious sites as Independence Hall and Yorktown Battlefield; and Eastern National Parks and Monuments Association, U.S. Mint Agency, Philadelphia.

Zellers-Frederick earned a bachelor's degree in history from Temple University and the Certificate for Historic Preservation from Bucks County Community College. While working toward a master's degree in history from LaSalle University, he also serves as an adjunct professor for the historic preservation program at Bucks County Community College in Newtown, Pa.

He is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Association of Archivists, the American Association for State and Local History, the Council for American Revolutionary Sites, the Mid-Atlantic Association of Museums and the National Trust for Historic Preservation, among others. Zellers-Frederick is the former vice president of the Craven Hall Historical Society, former board of directors member of the Fort Mifflin Historical Society and was part of the Directors' Circle of the Heritage Philadelphia Program. He has written for various publications, including The American Revolution-An Encyclopedia, 1993; Military History Magazine; and Journal of Historic RittenhouseTown.

In 2003, Zellers-Frederick received the Individual Achievement Award for Historic Site Development from the Pennsylvania Federation of Museums and Historical Organizations.
