Three Generations of Masons

At a recent stated meeting of Saucon Lodge No. 469, it was a privilege to have the official visit of the District Deputy Grand Master, Brother Robert W. Steckel. During his visit two 50-year Service Emblems of Gold were presented.

It was also a historical event for three generations of the Tilley Family in the ranks of Freemasonry. Brother James T. Tilley, a 50-year member, has four sons and one grandson in Freemasonry. In addition, Brother James Tilley's wife Anna, who is a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Calypso Chapter No.163, who was initiated October 1955 is also a 50-year member. Anna is a Past Worthy Matron (1960-61) of the former North Penn Chapter No. 457, Coopersburg, and Past District Deputy Grand Matron (1968-69) of District 24A.

Their sons, Brother Ricky A. Tilley, PM was the Worshipful Master of Saucon Lodge No. 469 in 2004. Brother William L. Tilley PM was the Worshipful Master of LeRay Lodge No. 471 in 2002. Brother Mark E. Tilley was made a Mason in 2002 and Brother Thomas J. Tilley was made a Mason in 2004.

On May 17th, 2005, Brother Christopher J. Tilley, son of Brother Ricky A. Tilley P.M. was raised to the Sublime Degree of a Master Mason. On that historic night three generations of the Tilley Family were now masons. Brother Christopher J. Tilley is in the Marine Reserves as a Hospital Corpsman and was deployed to Iraq with other members of the Lehigh Valley Marine Reserve Unit. Previously to that he was a Navy Hospital Corpsman on the U.S.S. Roosevelt, flight deck duty. We all wish him safe passage and Godspeed.
