Susan ValeTo some, it's home... to others, it's a home away from home. The Masonic Homes Residential/Respite Cottage opened in March 1998 to serve adults with mild to moderate mental retardation. Four adults now live there permanently, enjoying their independence and support provided by their care-givers. They also enjoy the company of other adults who come to stay for short periods, since the program still admits up to four adults at a time for short-term respite care. The program serves as a temporary home for these special adults, which allows their parents or care-givers to take a vacation or spend some personal time free from their care-giving responsibilities.

Within the caring, secure environment of the Masonic Homes, the program provides quality services to ensure the well-being of the individuals during their stay. The warm, inviting cottage is staffed by friendly, compassionate, and experienced professionals who work with the philosophy that the residents and guests deserve dignity and respect. The staff cares for each individual's medical and physical needs, including the administration of medications. But more important, they embrace the holistic approach to providing exceptional care for the mind, body, and spirit within a nurturing environment.
