Bro. Laird, A Busy Volunteer

Robert L. Laird, of Lawrence Lodge No. 708, Erie, is a Korean War veteran who has been volunteering for more than a decade. His volunteer work is actually with the nurses as well as the patients. He explains:

"I have worked in the operating room at the hospital for more than 11 years now. My duties consist of bringing patients on gurneys to the operating rooms and returning them when they are ready to go back to their rooms. I take specimens to the lab, take carts to the contamination room for sterilization, pick up x-ray photos, check dated instruments that are one-year old and return them for re-sterilization, and all other types of work that may be needed."

Bro. Laird, 73, who has been a Mason for 45 years, is pictured escorting a "patient." With Bro. Laird in the simulated scene are nurses Bonnie Henry in the wheel chair and Wanda Spangler, Supervisor.
