At the conclusion of the annual convention of Pennsylvania DeMolay, R.W. Past Grand Master Samuel C. Williamson resigned as the Executive Officer for Pennsylvania. He stepped down after serving for 13 years as the ranking representative for DeMolay International in the local jurisdiction. The Grand Master of DeMolay International, Ross Van Ness Bayer, M.W. Past Grand Master of New Jersey, appointed Thomas R. Labagh, Executive Director of the Pennsylvania Youth Foundation, to succeed Bro. Williamson.
Bro. Williamson followed in the footsteps of R.W. Past Grand Master John L. McCain, whom he succeeded as the Executive Officer, and capably guided the Order in the Commonwealth through prosperous years. Though Pennsylvania DeMolay will miss his leadership, he will be devoting the major part of his time to developing new programs through the Pennsylvania Youth Foundation. Bro. Williamson was instrumental in founding the Pennsylvania Youth Foundation and the original renovation of the Patton Masonic School for Boys into the Masonic Conference CenterPatton Campus, and has continued in tireless dedication to the youth of the state. Fittingly, a scholarship fund has been established in his honor and from it will come awards to deserving DeMolays in Bro. Williamson's name.
The new Executive Officer for Pennsylvania, Bro. Labagh, is a Past Master of Abraham C. Treichler Lodge No. 682, Elizabethtown. He served for a long time as the Assistant Executive Officer for Pennsylvania DeMolay and holds a myriad of DeMolay and Masonic honors, including the Degree of Chevalier, DeMolay Legion of Honor, and the Guild of the Leather Apron ("Advisor of the Year"), and is an Active Member of the International Supreme Council of DeMolay. He is a Past State Master Councilor of New Jersey DeMolay and worked for DeMolay International prior to coming to the Pennsylvania Youth Foundation. In late September in Pittsburgh, he was coroneted a Sovereign Grand Inspector General, 33º, A.A.S.R..
