The Academy of Masonic Knowledge has developed a certification program for those Brethren interested in furthering their background in the history, customs, and philosophy of Freemasonry. The details of the program and information for enrolling were presented to the attendees of the Academy of Masonic Knowledge held at Elizabethtown on Oct. 14.

The program provides three successive levels of self-study. Each level contains a basic core of information, with the participant reading certain required books, as well as additional Masonic books of his own choice. A book list of recommended reading, containing nearly 100 titles, is being distributed for this purpose. In addition, points applicable toward certification may be earned through activities, such as attending Academy of Masonic Knowledge sessions, giving Masonic presentations at lodge meetings, submitting Masonic articles for publication, and developing a Masonic education program for lodge use. The participant will submit a brief report on his activities to earn points for accreditation in each level.

Interested Pennsylvania Freemasons who were not at the October session of the Academy may register for the program by contacting the Masonic Education Office, Masonic Temple, One North Broad St. Philadelphia, PA 19107-2598. Phone: (215) 988-1909.
