E-Mail Virus Warning
Please be aware of fraudulent e-mails that some of our members are receiving from e-mail addresses which seem legitimate and have some variant of "pagrandlodge.org" as the address. Viruses that have taken over a computer are generating these e-mails. The virus uses the computer to send out copies of itself to other unsuspecting recipients, often without the knowledge of the owner of the infected computer.
The e-mails may indicate you changed your password, your account was suspended, your membership may be cancelled, etc., which, of course, do not apply to our Lodge membership system.
They may include (but are not limited to) the following subjects:
"Your Account is Suspended"
Sometimes they show as coming from Webmaster, or Administrator, or Admin, or Support, or any other number of other message sources. The common tactic these e-mails use is to entice you to open a file attachment for additional information. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHOULD YOU OPEN THE FILE ATTACHMENT. It will most likely infect your computer with the virus.
The virus is constantly being updated and modified, so be suspicious of any e-mail that seems out of the ordinary.
If you receive an e-mail message from anyone, it is always a good idea to verify the source, if possible. Always exercise caution when working on the Internet, and ALWAYS have an up-to-date anti-virus program running on your computer. You should update your anti-virus software at least once a week. Today, when there are several inexpensive programs available, and there are even free versions available for download, there is almost no excuse for allowing your computer to be infected by a virus.
