Region 1 Holds Successful Friend to Friend Workshop

workA very successful Saturday morning "Friend to Friend Workshop" was held by Region 1 late in the Spring in Fritz Lodge No. 420, Conshohocken. There was representation from 84 Lodges, including all of the Region's District Deputy Grand Masters and District Chairmen or their alternates. The workshop was led by G. Kent Hackney, P.D.D.G.M. and Director for Region 1. John E. Adams, Jr., Chairman of the Grand Lodge Membership Committee, and Roger L. Wheeler, P.D.D.G.M. and Area Chairman, participated. David K. Beaulieu, D.D.G.M., 6th Masonic District, was the host.

There were two parts to the training session: The process of inviting relatives and friends to learn about Freemasonry and the fellowship of the Fraternity, and the serious need for retaining Brethren who could be suspended for non-payment of dues or bringing back former members already suspended. The duties of the District Chairmen were discussed, especially their responsibilities in working with Lodge Membership Chairmen. The materials available for the Lodges were reviewed, including the viewing of the video, "I've Heard the Name, What Does It Mean?" It was pointed out that the video is a good way to introduce worthy men and their wives to Freemasonry. Every Lodge has a copy of the video.
