Junior "Agents" Get Their F.B.I. Credentials

The Pennsylvania Masonic Foundation for Children's Adopt-a-School program, run in conjunction with the Philadelphia F.B.I. Office and Joseph H. Brown Lodge No. 751, graduated children from two elementary school's classes on May 28 and 29. The Junior F.B.I. Program is conducted during the entire academic year and is taught by Tanya Jetter, the F.B.I.'s Community Outreach Specialist in Philadelphia (right rear in picture).

The schools are Fairhill Elementary in North Philadelphia and the Joseph H. Brown Elementary in Northeast Philadelphia. Each meeting begins with the young "agents" reciting the Junior Special Agents' pledge in which they promise to be good citizens, obey laws, and be positive role models in their neighborhoods. They also must pledge to stay drug-free and practice non-violent behavior in difficult situations. The training included a trip to F.B.I. headquarters and also a class on polygraphs by Special Agent Jerry O'Callaghan. The children are tested on their instructions throughout the year and upon graduation a Junior Special Agent in charge is chosen from the participants. Parents and friends as well as involved teachers and administrators attended the graduations.

fbiBrethren from Joseph H. Brown Lodge attended the ceremonies at Brown Elementary since the Lodge has "adopted" that namesake school. The Officers and Members of the Lodge have become involved in aiding and assisting the school by providing tickets for the circus and funds to purchase books for the library as well as attending many of the Jr. F.B.I. classes. The Master of the Lodge, Charles E. Lankert (also right rear in picture) received a certificate from the F.B.I. for the Lodge's participation.
