The charter officers for the newly constituted Pennsylvania Lodge of Research are (l-r): Front-John L. Winkelman, Trustee; Charles S. Canning, Sec.; Paul D. Fisher, S.W.; Thomas W. Jackson, W.M.; James L. Sieber, J.W.; and Danny R. McKnight, Treas. Rear-Terry D. Bentzel, J.M.C.; Robert L. Engel, S.D.; Theodore W. Schick, Jr., S.M.C.; John W. Postlewait, J.D.; Henry L. Lesher, acting Pursuivant standing in for Joseph F. Acton; William Kingsbury, Tyler; and Rev. William D. Hartman, Chaplain. It was a historic occasion at 10 a.m., Saturday, June 9, when Robert L. Dluge, Jr., R.W. Grand Master constituted the Pennsylvania Lodge of Research in the Abraham C. Treichler Lodge room in the Freemasons Cultural Center of the Masonic Homes at Elizabethtown. Accompanying the Grand Master for the ceremony were Marvin A. Cunningham, Sr., R.W.D.G.M.; Ronald A. Aungst, Sr., R.W.J.G.W.; Marvin G. Speicher, R.W.G.T.; and Larry A. Buzzard, Director of the Ritualistic Work, serving as the Grand Marshal. The Pennsylvania Lodge of Research was warranted by the R.W. Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of Pennsylvania on Dec. 27, 2000. After constituting the Research Lodge, the Grand Master installed the elected and appointed warrant officers: Thomas W. Jackson, W.M.; Paul D. Fisher, S.W.; James L. Sieber, J.W.; Danny R. McKnight, Treas.; Charles S. Canning, Sec.; Robert L. Engel, S.D.; John W. Postlewaite, J.D.; Theodore W. Schick, S.M.C.; Terry D. Bentzel, J.M.C.; Joseph F. Acton, Pursuivant; William L. Kingsbury, Tyler; Rev. William D. Hartman, Chaplain; and William E. Yeager, W. Jack Yates, and John L. Winkelman, Trustees. After the installation, Bro Jackson said, "It is a historic occasion for the Grand Lodge of Pennsylvania to have this Lodge.... I have often wondered why our jurisdiction, the oldest in North America, as well as the largest, did not have a Research Lodge. Well, now we do..." |
