On May 7, 2001, Lodge No. 62, West Reading, made history in the 7th Masonic District by becoming the first subordinate lodge to sponsor the local Reading Chapter, Order of DeMolay. This is the first new sponsor of the Reading DeMolay Chapter in 60 years! The chapter's primary sponsor is DeMolay Commandery No. 9, Knights Templar, West Reading.

Bro. Ronald I. Simon, W.M. (center-left), presented David Butkus, Master Councilor (center-right), with a contribution of $1,000 and the lodge resolution of support for the Reading Chapter.
