In just six months, nearly 200 lodges have participated in the Masonic Matching Charity Grants program to improve the quality of life for neighbors and communities in need. More than $283,000 have been contributed through 315 grants and 6 lodge projects. This is almost exactly the same status of the Masonic Matching Charity Grants program as it was last year during this time, proving that this is a program that lodges enjoy and want to continue. The Masonic Matching Charity Grants program enables lodges to double their efforts in actively helping others and participating in their communities. The program also offers the ability for a lodge to perform a service with the active involvement from a significant number of members at no cost to the lodge. This optional aspect of the program allows a lodge to identify a need in the community, prepare an estimated budget to complete the desired project, and request reimbursement from the Masonic Matching Charity Grants Committee to reimburse the lodge for the costs of supplies to support the work of the members. This "active involvement" portion of the program can energize lodges when they go hand-in-hand in unanimity to serve others. Monthly updates of the Masonic Matching Charity Grants program, with progress charts and news clippings of successful lodge programs, can be found by visiting the Grand Lodge of Pennsylvania's web site at www.pagrandlodge.org/mcg. All the rules, regulations, and required forms are available through the web site to assist lodges in requesting matching charity grants.
