The Masonic Education Committee will conduct a second workshop in 2001 for lodge officers on Saturday, Oct. 13 in the Brossman Ballroom of the Freemasons Cultural Center of the Masonic Homes at Elizabethtown. This session, structured the same as the one for Junior and Senior Wardens that was attended by 186 participants on March 17, will discuss the skills and knowledge necessary to be a good lodge officer. A letter of invitation, along with a response card, will be sent to all Junior and Senior Wardens who did not attend the first workshop. Responses must be returned no later than Sept. 1.

The Education Committee encourages lodges to plan a program in November to honor Masons who are veterans. A program titled, "We Honor Our Masonic Veterans" was developed last October and a copy of it was forwarded to the Worshipful Master of each lodge. If an additional copy of the program is desired, contact the Masonic Education office by calling (215) 988-1919, or (215) 988-1909.

Another project in progress by the Masonic Education Committee is the updating of the four packets for candidates: "On the Threshold," "The Entered Apprentice," "The Fellow Craft," and "The Master Mason." New brochures are being secured and a number of the existing brochures currently included in the packets are being updated. The new packets will be available from the Masonic Education office by Sept. 1. By the time each candidate advances to the degree of a Master Mason, he should have significant materials on Freemasonry to enhance his understanding of the Fraternity and what it stands for.
