Pictured in the library are Spencer Sikder (left) and Richard Mason, Trustee. Lancaster Lodge No. 43, with the aid of a grant from the estate of the late Albert L. Einolf, P.M., and stimulated by the objectives of the Academy of Masonic Knowledge have installed a comprehensive library in the Lancaster Masonic Center in the 1st Masonic District. Already, it contains an extensive list of books and Masonic literature. The Library Committee, comprising Past Masters Nat Gilchrist and Jack W. W. Loose and Trustee Richard Mason, has accumulated more than 180 Masonic publications. In addition, numerous copies of Masonic dictionaries and encyclopedias have been cataloged. This initiative has included both acquiring new publications and tracking down out-of-print literature. Book donations from members also have provided some very rare editions of Masonic literature. New audio-video equipment, along with the Masonic videos, have made the library into a true learning center. The development of the library coincides with the Grand Lodge Academy of Knowledge program in that it provides the tools and support for the individual Mason to participate, while promoting the purposes intended by the late Bro. Einolf. Furthermore, the literature is being used as a part of the education process for new Masons as they proceed through their degrees. In addition, book reports and library updates are provided regularly at lodge meetings and at the District School of Instruction. |
