Masons of note for MayR.W. Past Grand Master Edward H. Fowler, Jr., (center) conferred the three degrees on his grandson, Geary L. O 'Neil, Jr. (left) in Avalon Lodge No. 657, Bellevue on Feb. 9. At right is the new Mason's father, Geary L. O'Neil, Sr., who was made a Mason-at-Sight in 1993 when Bro. Fowler was Grand Master. Geary L., Sr. then affiliated with Avalon Lodge. R.W.P.G.M. Fowler also had conferred all of the degrees on his father, the late Edward H., Sr., in Avalon Lodge. Thus, four generations of the family have been members of Avalon Lodge. Geary L. Jr., is a police officer.

Bro. and Dr. F. William Sunderman took a week from work in March to go to Washington to be recognized as the "Oldest U.S. Worker." He is over 100 - born Oct. 23, 1898 - and works every day at the Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia editing the medical journal he founded 30 years ago. He is widely known as a physician, author, teacher, photographer, editor, scientist, and musician. He says, "I have too many interests to retire." He still plays his 17th century Stradivarius violin every evening and on his 100th birthday performed a solo at his alma mater, Gettysburg College. He has played in Carnegie Hall. Bro. Sunderman was made a Mason-at-Sight by Earl F. Herold, R.W. Grand Master, on June 2, 1964, and affiliated with Thomas R. Patton Lodge No. 659, Philadelphia.
