Whose Life will YOUR Lodge Change this Summer?
In its eighth highly successful year, the Pennsylvania Masonic Youth Foundation's (PMYF) LifeSkills Conference is scheduled for July 22-27, 2007. It's a week of fun, new friends and challenging new experiences, and it's far from just your average summer camp.
Through a variety of fun, adventure-based problem solving and team-building experiences designed by Bro. Thom Stecher and Associates, participants will discover the power of RESPECT, RESPONSIBILITY and RELATIONSHIPS in building a successful life. Bro. Stecher is one of the designers of the nationally recognized Masonic Model Student Assistance Program. Among the week's highlights is a trip to a high ropes course.
The conference is open to young people, ages 12-16, who are members of a Masonic-sponsored youth group, a relative of a Pennsylvania Mason or sponsored by a Pennsylvania Masonic lodge. In the past, a number of lodges have taken up the challenge to find a local youth to sponsor to the conference, and they've been glad they did. Conference "graduates" volunteer to make a presentation to their sponsoring lodges after the program, and they often say the lodge provided them with nothing less than a life-changing experience.
This year, the PMYF is challenging the lodges of Pennsylvania to widen the influence of this great conference by sponsoring one conferee from each Masonic district. We've already sent brochures and applications to all Pennsylvania lodges and District Deputies, complete with suggestions on where to find a youth to sponsor.
As always, the conference will be held at our fantastic Masonic Conference Center-Patton Campus, Elizabethtown, Pa. After subsidies by the PMYF, the registration cost for participants, or their lodge sponsors, is only $250 for first-time attendees, or $400 for those returning for a second conference. Complete details of the conference, along with registration materials, are available online at www.pagrandlodge.org/pmyf or by calling the PMYF offices directly at (800) 266-8424.
