Needed: Masons Who Like Having Fun!

Ask any member or advisor of a Masonic youth group what they thought was needed most for their organization to grow and succeed and the universal answer would be: Adult Leaders! Right now, the Masonic youth groups in Pennsylvania ­ the Order of DeMolay for young men ages 12 to 21, the Order of Job's Daughters for young women ages 11 to 20 with a Masonic relative, and the Order of Rainbow for Girls for young women 11 to 20 ­ have the same important need: adults to volunteer their time to work with an outstanding group of young people.

Whatever your interests, hobbies, or favorite activities may be, the young men and women of the Masonic groups need your talents and time!

What do you like to do in your free time? Play or coach softball? Teach ritualistic excellence? Don camouflage and take in a round of paintball? Work with community service projects? Cook for a crowd? Pitch a tent for a weekend of camping? Mentor young people in developing leadership skills? Take in a round of golf? Attend a dance? Bowl a strike or two? Eat pizza, tacos and wings?

Do you have what it takes? Our young people hope so! What it really takes is:

Time - the most important four-letter word, a precious commodity in our frantic and frenetic daily lives! But, do you know what? Our youth groups aren't looking for a superman who will give a dozen days a month -- our youth groups are looking for a dozen men who will give one or two nights a month helping with an activity or meeting.

Interest - a genuine and sincere desire to help young men and women live lives based upon timeless Masonic ideals that will mold them into better leaders, better citizens and better sons and daughters. If you start off by giving one or two nights a month, you may find rewards so great and enriching to your life that you will want to give more.

Fever for Fun - attitude is everything in working with our young people and if you like to have fun in everything you do, you definitely will want to spend time with youth. The secret that we don't tell them is that while they're having fun, they are learning the lessons and virtues that make them better men and women.
