Why do some people who already have a Masonic Homes' charitable gift annuity obtain another one... and another? There are at least four good reasons: 1. Satisfaction... Most Brethren and friends ease into their first gift annuity with Masonic Homes with some degree of uncertainty. After all, this is a new arrangement for them and they wonder how well it will work. Will the payment amount be as promised? Will the checks arrive on time? Such uneasiness vanishes quickly as they discover that they are having positive experiences and learn that they can count on Masonic Homes to follow through. And this satisfaction draws them back for another annuity. 2. Connection... Having a life-income agreement with Masonic Homes involves an interdependence not experienced with normal annual giving. For one thing, persons are not only providing financial support that will make a difference in the lives of others, they are receiving a life income as well. This enhanced sense of "partnership" encourages the feeling that "we are in this together." Additional annuities strengthen this connection even more. 3. Better Rates... Gift rates are determined by the nearest age(s) of the annuitant(s) on the date the annuity is funded. The older you are, the higher the rate you will receive. For example, our current rate for a single-life gift annuity involving a 70-year-old person is 7.2%. The rate increases to 7.9% for a 75-year-old. At age 80, the rate is 8.9% and at 85 it is 10.4%. A person who is 90-years-old (and older) will receive 12.0%. So for many annuitants, it makes sense to purchase additional annuities as they grow older. 4. Membership In The Franklin Legacy Society... Purchase of a Masonic Homes gift annuity is one of several ways Brethren and friends may qualify for membership in the newly created Franklin Legacy Society. This society seeks to recognize all who have included a provision for one or more of the five (5) Masonic Charities of the Grand Lodge of Pennsylvania in their estate plans. The Society's initial event, a luncheon for members only, was held on April 25th in the beautiful Brossman Ballroom of the Freemasons Cultural Center on the campus of the Masonic Homes at Elizabethtown. Grand Master Cunningham greeted Society members and unveiled a special donor recognition wall. The program featured a special presentation by Christies.
