Lodge Builds Early Childhood Classrooms

Eureka Lodge No. 290, Greenville, constructed two rooms on the second floor of the lodge hall for use as an early childhood center for the Mercer County Literacy Council. The early childhood program, operated by the Mercer Even Start Program, had been in the planning stages for 15 months with the first phase beginning last Fall.

The lodge officers and members collaborated with the Literacy Council to design a safe, attractive environment for preschoolers. All of the labor was supplied by the Masons, while the Council provided some of the materials for the two classrooms. The main offices of the Literacy Council are on the first floor of the lodge hall.
