Bro. William and Marlene Moisey liked what they saw when they looked over the planned layout of their new apartment building at the Masonic Village at Sewickley. William is a Past Master and current Treasurer for Doric Lodge No. 630, Sewickley. He is also a Past Patron and current Worthy Patron for Sewickley Chapter No. 439, Order of The Eastern Star. Marlene is a Past Matron and current Treasurer for Chapter 439. When Bro. William and Mrs. Marlene Moisey first heard about the Masonic Village at Sewickley, they wasted no time in finding out what "all the fuss was about." Although still in their early to mid-sixties, the Moiseys were among the first in line to reserve one of the spacious apartments, which will be ready for occupancy in Spring of 2003. "We want to be close to home and have a sense of security as we get older," said Mrs. Moisey. One of the reasons the Moiseys did not need to look beyond the Masonic Village at Sewickley was because of their experiences with both the Masonic Homes at Elizabethtown and Valley Care Masonic Center, which is the Sewickley community's existing nursing center. "My dad lived at Elizabethtown for eight years," shares Bro. Moisey. "As far as he was concerned there was no other choice." Mrs. Moisey also emphasizes the excellent care that her mother received while living at the Valley Care Masonic Center. Since they are currently residents of Sewickley, the new Masonic Village at Sewickley will allow the Moiseys to remain a part of the community.
Construction of the Star Points Building, the new assisted living building for the Sewickley campus, creates excitement as people see that they are on the ground floor of something new. A full-scale, two-bedroom apartment model and a marketing office are now available for prospective residents to view as they consider their retirement options. The Masonic Village at Sewickley has embraced the life-care concept, which means that residents will have access to assisted living and nursing care services in the future with the same monthly service fee structure as for their retirement living services. The Sewickley team is planning presentations throughout western Pennsylvania, along with monthly house events.
