alaskaAt the invitation of C. C. Griffin, II, M.W. Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Alaska, a group of Pennsylvania Masons representing the Education and Training Committee of the Grand Lodge of Pennsylvania attended the Annual Communication in Fairbanks on Feb. 1 where they exemplified the Master Mason's Degree and the opening and closing of a lodge.

The team from Pennsylvania and the stations and places they served included: Edward O. Weisser, R.W.P.G.M., as Acting Worshipful Master; Guy T. Matthews, P.D.D.G.M., Senior Warden, who also exemplified the opening and closing of the lodge and helped to guide the floor officers; William Wetterau, Past Grand Steward, as Junior Warden; and Kenneth W. McCartey, Director of the Masonic Library and Museum of Pennsylvania, who presented the Charge at the Raising and served as Guide.

One hundred forty Masons from 20 lodges in the state witnessed the degree work and exemplification. Several brothers said that they had traveled 1,000 miles to attend the Annual Communication. The Alaskan brethren asked many interesting questions about the Pennsylvania work.

Brethren from California, Oregon, Washington, and Canada attended. Although the attendance was small in numbers, the Communication was filled with friendship and spirit even though the outside temperature was minus 12 degrees F.
