A Pennsylvania Masonic Foundation for Children grant to sponsor children's tours of the new National Liberty Museum was presented by James L. Ernette, R.W.P.G.M. and President of the Foundation (right), and Raymond Brown, Executive Director of the Foundation, (left), to Irvin J. Borowsky, Chairman of the Museum.
The Pennsylvania Masonic Foundation for Children is donating $25,000 a year for a four-year sponsorship of children's tours of the newly opened National Liberty Museum in Philadelphia. The grant will allow approximately 20,000 school children a year to visit the unique institution.
The National Liberty Museum features displays supporting the Pennsylvania Masonic Foundation's message of anti-drugs and anti-violence. It also encourages the Masonic ideals of religious tolerance and strong moral and family values. The Museum's numerous displays provide a chance for children not only to observe, but also to participate. One of the displays allows them to use a voting machine to give their opinions about present-day issues. Also, as a class assignment, the students write papers about their experiences in the museum.
Also, a child accompanying a Pennsylvania Freemason may visit the Museum free of charge by letting the Museum know in advance or by identifying himself as a Mason. During the Spring, the Foundation will sponsor a trip for the youth residing at the Masonic Children's Home to visit the Museum. |
