A family-oriented Quarterly Communication featuring plenty of fun and food will be held on Friday and Saturday, June 23-24 in the Elysburg area. This Quarterly will be the first-ever with a full day of family fun prior to the Saturday Grand Lodge Communication.
Friday is the day for families to choose from the following activities: (1) a golfing tournament at Jepko's Three Ponds 18-hole golf course, in Elysburg (2) a trap shoot at the Northumberland Valley Gun & Country Club, in Elysburg (3) a history tour beginning at the Ashland Coal Mine, followed by a visit to the Lower Anthracite Model Railroad Club in Shamokin, then on to Weaver Model Manufacturing, in Northumberland, where the Pennsylvania Masonic Train is being made, or (4) activities at Knoebels Grove Amusement Park.
Saturday the Quarterly Communication will be held on the grounds of the Elysburg Fire Department at 10:00 a.m. followed by lunch at that facility. The ladies, children, and guests will travel to Knoebels Grove Amusement Park, which opens at 11:00 a.m. Look for the Grand Lodge pavilion where lunch will be provided. Following the Communication, the brethren will be bused to Knoebels Park. A barbecue chicken and ham dinner will be served at the park at 5:00 p.m. Special entertainment headlining the 60's magic of DAVID CLAYTON-THOMAS and BLOOD, SWEAT AND TEARS and The Shangri-Las.
An added activity available Saturday and Sunday will be train rides on the North Shore Railroad. Cost of the train ride will be $10 a person.
Dress codes are as follows: Friday is casual for the entire day. Saturday is Masonic dress for the Quarterly Communication and casual for the remainder of the day. Changing areas will be available following the men's luncheon.
