Concordia Lodge awards Scholarships

At a banquet after its October meeting, Concordia Lodge No. 67, Jenkintown, awarded 15 scholarships to qualifying college students. Past Masters Norman L. Day and William J. Greet made the presentations derived from earnings of the Ronald Clarkson Scholarship Fund that was established to help members of Concordia Lodge and their immediate families meet college expenses

The 1997 recipients are: James V. Casey, Stephen Day, Tara Ann Farrell, William J. Farrell, Shawn Greet, Dustin Haftel, Rebecca L. Hollinger, Erik M. Lindstrom, Dorie Pfeiffer, Rebecca, Schaffrick, Kimberly Schaffrick, Michele L. Seybert, Meghan Shingler, Leah Ann Smith, and Rudi Emil Witzel.

The late Bro. Clarkson, a member of the Lodge, was born and educated in England as a chemist. He held several patents for pelletizing medications. Having no children, he made the bequest to the Lodge with the mandate that all income be distributed as a grant among student applicants attending accredited colleges.
