Need Continues for Organ Donors The Masonic Organ Donor Program was created during the administration of Edward O. Weisser, R.W.P.G.M. (1996-1997), as something vital that each Mason and his family members could do to help fellow human beings. It was conceived due to the growing need for viable organs for transplantation. The purpose of the Masonic Organ Donor Committee is to encourage Masons to consider becoming organ donors. Nearly 80,000 Americans are awaiting life-saving transplants. Many of them will die because an organ is not available. That's why the Organ Donor Committee says: "Please consider becoming an organ donor." The process is very simple. Each Lodge should have a supply of organ donor cards. All one has to do is fill out the information and carry it in his wallet. It is imperative to notify your family of your decision. One's next of kin is responsible for making the final decision for organ donation. Therefore, it is a necessity that the family knows one's wishes. Please take that step now become an organ donor.
