During 2001, it was the Masonic attire and the stations they occupied that let the elected officers of John F. Laedlein Lodge No. 707, Williamsport, in the 18th Masonic District, know that they were conducting a lodge meeting and not an Army Reserve drill.

Four of the five had served together for 10 years in the 327th Supply and Services Battalion of the U.S. Army Reserves. In the lodge, the First Sergeant, Steven J. Barner (front, center), was the Worshipful Master; the Master Sergeant, Edward F. Dammer (front, left), was the Senior Warden; the Company Commander, Major Thomas W. Boyle (front, right), was the Junior Warden; the Command Sergeant Major, William E. Fritz, Sr. (rear, left), was the Secretary; and sometimes the Battalion Commander, Col. George J. Casella (rear, right), was the acting Treasurer. The five, whose combined active and reserve service totals 125 years, found it rewarding to serve together again and are trying to organize a military degree team.
