The Mario Lanza Institute will be the recipient of the 2008 Columbia Award from the Columbia Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons "in recognition of the ongoing accomplishments of the Institute in the advancement of vocal arts and for perpetuating the gifted voice of Mario Lanza".
The award will be presented at a dinner in the Grand Banquet Hall of the Masonic Temple in Philadelphia on May 19, 2008.
Some of the past recipients include Governor Ed Rendell, District Attorney Lynn Abraham, The Mummers, The Philadelphia Orchestra, and The Curtis Institute of Music.
