Welcome. Freemasonry has a long and proud history in Philadelphia. St. John's Lodge No. 1 was constituted in Philadelphia in 1727. Benjamin Franklin was initiated in the City of Brotherly Love and became the Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Pennsylvania in 1734. Many of the signers of the Declaration of Independence were also Masons. District A includes eight Philadelphia-area lodges that meet in Center City, Jenkintown and Warminster. Their members come from all walks of life, but share common values like Brotherhood and service to their communities. We invite members to use this site as a resource for District activities. If you're not a Mason, check out "Become a Mason" for links to the Grand Lodge of PA website and start your Masonic journey. |
