VETERANS DAY MESSAGE
"I was that which others cared not to be. I went where others feared to go and did what others failed to do. I asked nothing from those who gave nothing. And, reluctantly, accepted the thought of eternal loneliness-should I fail. I have seen the face of terror, felt the chill of fear, warmed to the touch of love. I have hoped, pained, cried. But, foremost, lived in times others would say best forgotten. At the very least, in later days, I will be able to say with greatest pride, that I was indeed a Soldier"

******************************
Tonight we offer our respect to those who answered the call of duty to serve, and thus protect and defend the liberties we now enjoy. John A. Brashear Lodge No. 743 has through the years recognized our Brothers in arms through a Veteran's Day program. This is necessary for a number of essential reasons as citizens, but for Masons, service to country is one of the cornerstones of our Fraternity. We like to think that as Brothers our interest and concern is with contribution, not of reward. What greater contribution can there be than those of our distinguished veterans? It is fitting that we as a fraternity gather together for this purpose this evening. Through our history the conception of freedom was defined by our founding fathers, many of whom were Masons. Accordingly the guardianship of that independence has been maintained with pride and quiet dignity by many in this room tonight, and by so many more who radiate in eternity with the Almighty. They have lit the paths of Freedom that we may walk in safety, and we must never forget.
Giulio Magrini, Worshipful Master
