Hi to the Brethren of # 743.  Hey Joe T.  The chairlift is in, and I don't have to use it YET.

Things at Hiram # 68 are going well too.  On May 1, we will confer 7 (seven) FC degrees.

If you ever head South to this general direction, please stop in.  I'm about a cabletow length from I-85, exit 21 in SC.  As for the beer, I'm still using the cases of Old Mil that I won from Dick at the races, back in the day. I also remember George Curry, and me beating the pro horse shoe pitching team of Don Clasper, & (who else?), Dick Curry.

A few weeks ago we had a practice day for all the officers, and they asked if I would like to

try out a some other stations & places.  I agreed, as long as it would be ok if I had a flash back from # 743.  That, of course happened in the Jr. Deacon chair.  They were impressed the way I ripped off my business there.  It was all wrong, as you might have guessed, but it was fun.

Hey Bro. Joe Thompson,  Good to hear you got to use your sno-blower.  Here in the Great State of South Carolina, I've used my riding lawn mower already.

Hiram Lodge # 68 is doing well too.  We conferred 6 (that's six)  EA degrees last Thursday, with dispensation, of course, from Grand Lodge. We got home before mid-nite too, by virtue of efficient floor officers.  I only did the prayers, as Chaplain.

 

Here's something else, the lodge room is on the 3rd floor, and some of the older brethren don't like the old elevator, and can't walk up, so a chair lift is being installed by the members.  The building is a bit older than the old building on W. Liberty near Potomac.

Sort of reminds me of it though.

Ok you cybermasons, what going on out there. I think we just had our last big snow. You southerners probably can't remember what snow was. Hey, at least I got to use my new 9hp - 28" Craftsman snowblower a couple times this year. I was kind of worried there for awhile, but mother nature came thru.

 

I am trying to get a bunch of you people out there to write something in the guest book and let us know what's going on with your lives. I will be officially in  retirement here in a couple months. May 1st to be exact. Now I will know and feel the joy many of you are experiencing.

It has been sometime since I have communicated to the craft, so it is time for an update.

Last September I moved into a condo call Little Club, located in Tequesta FL and then was forced into early retirement by having my position out sourced. Now I the opportunity to enjoy the condo's 9 hole par 3 golf course and the heated swimming pool. I also visit the Jupiter Light Lodge (#340) in Jupiter FL and BYKOTA-Unity (#333) located in Greenacres, FL where I am a dual member.

 

So to all, keep warm up North.

Hey Ya'all up North!..  I just attended my first stated meeting at # 68 as the Chaplain.  It brought back some great feelings of de ja vu, of my days as Chaplain of # 743.  I was also put on a new candidate's committee of inquiry.  Don't think I'm ready to confer any degrees yet.  I think one guy said, "git-r-done", instead of so mote etc.  No, just kidding, of course.

On a serious note, let me congratulate the officers of # 743 on the great job at the school of instruction for exemplifying an opening.

Just got back from three weeks at Myrtle Beach with the family. Missed seeing old buddy, brother Joe Reppar. Maybe next year, I've already made my reservations. Besides the upcoming trips to the NASCAR races and a weeks worth of Las Vegas I'm really looking forward to the lodge picnic September 15. I've been to every one and a good time is had by all. Just returned home from Myrtle Beach, and a great visit with Bros. Richard Curry Sr. & Jr. PMs. & their families. Along with all the tourist stuff,  and watching the Daytona races on TV, we managed to get in some Masonic work.  I needed some refresher sessions, and of course Bro. Dick accommodated me.  Stay tuned for some beach pictures upon Dick's return to the Burgh in about another week.

I haven't written for a while - stupid computor wouldn't cooperate.  Just wanted to say HI, and wish everyone well.  Looking forward to seeing my Ole Recommender, Dick (NASCAR) Curry in Myrtle Beach in July.

  I've lived down here for over 15 yrs. & am a member of the North Brevard Shrine Club & the Azan Shrine Potentates M.C. Escort. I played the Pipes i n the Syria Highlanders for about 15 yrs.

  I'll be due for my 50yr. pin in 3 yrs.

  I have 5 adult kids & their gangs living in the Pgh. area & visit every yr. in Aug. & Sept. #1 son (Willie III) retired from the navy in Gulf Port Miss. & is now a Mail Man in Pascagoula Miss.

Glad to see brother Reppar has finally completed his move to South Carolina.. he said too many "old people" live in Florida. Not really, he fit right in there. I'll miss visiting with him on my two annual trips to Daytona. At least he still finds a way to visit #743 from time to time.

The web page is getting better all the time. I noticed that the oldest living Past Master Thomas Byrer, I remember Tom before I joined the craft as I sat next to him in choir. Then after I joined, he had me over to his home to help me learn the what was needed to advance. Tom is one of the reasons John A Brashear lodge is one of the best in the State.

 

I have made it my home page, so I go to each time I log on. keeps me close to all.

As I again visit our lodges home page, I remember that John A Brashear is one of the best lodges in PA, let alone in the World. I am please of have been able to be associated to Brashear.

 

I would like to let the brothers known that they have a great Master this year in Wor. Magrini. He has gone the extra miles (yes plural) to reach out to the brothers who have left Pittsburgh and can no longer get back for the meetings. He has kept me connected this year in including me in the Past Master Evening my sending me a Past Master Shirt. And when he was visiting a friend in West Palm Beach last Month, made a point of visiting me and getting to me a personalize John A Brashear mug. He will be a hard one to follow, but all of the John A Brashear Past Masters have been hard to follow because all have been great

Thanks for keeping me updated.

 

As I was reading some of the other posts, I realized I forgot to let the brothers know how I made it through the hurricanes. My apartment had no damage from either, I just lost electricity after each, the first for about 10 days and the second for about 4 days. I feel that I was very lucky, as the eye of the second storm was just one mile north of my place.

 

And my work location is in the same building as the local ABC TV station, so work had power and phones the next day after the each storm.

 

Hope all the brothers had a great summer.

I just saw the pictures of the June Stated Meeting (Strawberry nite), and, again, it brought back fond memories.  Hope I can attend more meetings in the not too distant future.  One meeting, May 2004, in 16 years is not a very good average, but then 900 miles to the place of meeting is a considerable distance.
