Groundbreaking Address

Good evening and welcome to the official Groundbreaking Ceremony of Duquesne Lodge #731 Masonic Temple.

I am Barry Minnicks, President of the Duquesne Lodge Masonic Hall Association and we are gathered to celebrate this memorable occasion. It has been 40 + Years since the city of Duquesne has had a Masonic meeting place.

We lost our lodge room that was located on 1st Street, in 1960 due to the redevelopment that took place in the city at that time.   Duquesne Lodge #731 met in the Homestead Masonic Temple for approximately 10 years and the McKeesport Masonic Temple for the past 30 years.

It has taken us this long to accumulate the necessary funds and to find an prepare the perfect location for our new temple.   We have decided this is the perfect spot in a growing neighborhood among good people.   Finally, we are coming home, here we intend to plant our roots and have our organization grow to be more recognizable in the city and surrounding communities.   We greatly desire and intend to be a part of the re-birth of the city many of us still call home.

Our Hall Association Officers Are:
EDWIN C. FARRINGTON, JR. VICE-PRESIDENT
ROBERT J. CUNNINGHAM, TREASURER
MARK R. WOLFE II, SECRETARY

The Board of Directors consists of ten members of the Hall Association.  At this time the Directors are:
WILLIAM J. EBERTSHAUSER, JOHN KASHLAK, ROBERT J. CUNNINGHAM, CHARLES DUDGEON, BARRY MINNICKS, GEORGE CHRISTOFF, DONALD DVORSKY, ROSCOE METZ, EDWIN C. FARRINGTON JR., AND MARK R. WOLFE II.

It has been the leadership of these men and those who have served before them that has enabled us to be here today to begin a new chapter in the book of Duquesne Masonry. May this just be the beginning of many volumes to be yet written.

The present elected officers for the Duquesne Lodge are: Michael J. Stano, Worshipful Master, Frank R. Derringer, Senior Warden, and Charles Dudgeon, Junior Warden.  William J. Ebertshauser serves as Secretary and John Ursin is our Treasurer.

There are eight lodges in the 49th Masonic District.   Those honoring us with their presence this evening are:
Alliquippa Lodge #375, W.M. CARLTON J. NAGY
Stephen Bayard Lodge #526, W.M. JACK FULMER
