How to Join - "2 BE 1, ASK
1"
Freemasons come from every profession and walk of life. Our members do, however, share a belief in the existence of a Supreme Being. Our Fraternity's purpose is "to make good men better." Masonry teaches man to practice charity and benevolence, to protect chastity, to respect the ties of blood and friendship, to adopt the principles and revere the ordinances of religion, to assist the feeble, guide the blind, raise up the downtrodden, shelter the orphan, guard the altar, support the Government, inculcate morality, promote learning, love man, fear God, implore His mercy and hope for happiness.
Freemasons do not recruit new members. In order to become a Mason, you must ask a friend who is a Mason in good standing. He will give you an application for membership, called a "petition", on which you will be asked to state your name, your age, your occupation and your place of residence. After your petition is read out in Lodge, a committee of three Masonic brethren will arrange to meet with you to verify your qualification for membership. In order to join, your petition must be unanimously approved by the members of the Lodge.
Candidates for Freemasonry receive three degrees, culminating with the degree of Master Mason. The degrees are ceremonies designed to teach the moral values of Freemasonry. The degrees are conferred with utmost seriousness and solemnity; hazing and pranks play no part in the ceremonies of the Masonic Lodge.
If you are interested in joining Spring City Lodge, please contact the Lodge Secretary or the Worshipful Master. For more general information on Freemasonry, please follow the link to the Grand Lodge of Pennsylvania website.
