On April 3 1985, RWB Arthur William Kratzert,
became the 139th Most Worshipful Grand Master of Masons in Connecticut.
Having been born in Monaca, PA., he was raised to the Sublime
Degree of a Master Mason in Woodlawn Lodge No. 672, Aliquippa,
PA, in 1948. He affiliated with Friendship Lodge #33, Southington,
CT, on September 4, 1963, after moving to Connecticut to co-found
Kratzert & Jones & Associates of Civil Engineers.
He had served with distinction as Master of
Friendship Lodge in 1968 and Secretary from 1982 through 1987.
He was District Deputy for Masonic District 5B in 1977 & 1978,
and was appointed RW Grand Junior Steward in 1979.
As a member of the York Rite, he was honored
to be a member of the Red Cross of Constantine. And, in the Scottish
Rite, he was coronated a Sovereign Grand Inspector General, 33rd
Degree, in St. Louis, Missouri.
He was also a member of the Sphinx Temple
and the Royal Order of the Jesters.
On April 1 1987, MWPGM and Illustrious 33rd
Degree Arthur W. Kratzert received The Pierpoint Edwards Medal
in Bronze for Distinguished Masonic Service. And, in 1998, he
received his 50 year award.
RWB Kratzert also served in the United States
Navy during World War II and was actively involved in community
service, holding positions such as President of the YMCA and a
member of the Town Council of the Town of Southington.
On March 31, 2006, the Grand Architect of
the Universe called RWB Kratzert from labor to repose.
