Howard E. Baker
Howard E. Baker, 75, of Penbrook, died Monday, August 20, 2007 at Carolyn Croxton Slane Hospice Residence.
Mr. Baker was a retired Federal employee. He attended the Penbrook Church of God; member of the Eureka Lodge #302, F&AM; the Harrisburg Consistory; Zembo Luncheon Club; Zembo Antique & Classic Car Unit and the Zembo Shrine; and was an Army Veteran of the Korean War.
He was the son of the late Ralph Howard and Stella
(Stroup) Baker and was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Ware Baker.
Surviving are his wife, Anna (Snyder) Baker; step-son, Richard Pozoic of Duncannon, PA; 2 sisters, Winifred Cadwallader and Karen Baker, both of Harrisburg; and several nieces and nephews.
A Masonic service will be held on Friday, August 24,
2007 at 10 a.m., in the Jesse H. Geigle Funeral Home, Inc., 2100 Linglestown Road, Susquehanna Twp., followed by a funeral service, with the Rev. Eugene A.
Beam, Sr., officiating. Burial will be in Shoop's Garden of Rest,with full military honors.

| James F. Robinson
James F. Robinson, 83, of Mechanicsburg, died Wednesday, August 1, 2007 at Holy Spirit Hospital.
Born February 14, 1924 in Mechanicsburg, he was the son of the late Charles W. and Anna Dietz (Mumma) Robinson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Mary (Stansfield) Robinson and brother, Charles Robinson.
James is survived by daughters, Elizabeth R. Unger of Atlanta, GA and Merrily R. Slade of Washington, NC; grandchildren, James and Evelyn Unger; step-grandchildren, Orry, Mindy and Kimberly Slade; sister, Ellen M. Robinson and brother, Paul E.
Robinson; several nieces and nephews.
He was an active and lifetime member of First United Methodist Church, Mechanicsburg and the Eureka Lodge #302. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps from 1943-1945, during which he was taken prisoner of war.
He retired from AMP, Inc.
Memorial services will be at First United Methodist Church, on Sunday, August 5, 2007. Family visitation will be at 2 p.m., followed by a service at 3 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church, 135 West Simpson Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055.

| Robert L. Neagley
Robert L. Neagley, 86, of Mechanicsburg, passed away Sunday, April 1, 2007 in Harrisburg Hospital.
Born August 24, 1920 in Leechburg, PA, he was the son of the late Samuel M. and Ellen Cunningham Neagley.
Bob was the owner and operator of R.L. Neagley Jeweler located on Main Street in Mechanicsburg. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Mechanicsburg where he sang Tenor in the church choir and was a member of W.S. Guyer Sunday School Class.
Bob was an Army Veteran of World War II, member of the Eureka Lodge No. 302 F&AM, Mechanicsburg Rotary Club, Harrisburg Camera Club and the West Shore Flying Society. Bob had a tremendous enthusiasm for model airplanes.
He was preceded in death by his sister Marion Neagley and by a brother William C. Neagley.
Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Mildred Martin Neagley; a son, David L. Neagley; a daughter, Mary L. Holloway; 2 granddaughters, Hannah and Hayley Holloway, all of Mechanicsburg.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Thursday at First United Methodist Church, Mechanicsburg. Burial will be in Trindle Springs Cemetery. Viewing will be from 5 to 7 PM Wednesday at Malpezzi Funeral Home, Mechanicsburg and from 9:30 to 10:30 AM Thursday in the church.

Harper O. Swartley, Jr.,
Harper O. Swartley, Jr., 64, of Mechanicsburg, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 24, 2007 surrounded by his family after a seven month battle with pancreatic cancer.
He was born November 16, 1942 in Steelton to the late Harper and Catherine (Hofsass) Swartley.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Mary Ann (Spertzel); two daughters, Terri Bowling and her husband Terry of Lancaster, and Kimberly Madara and her husband James of Douglassville; a son Jason Swartley and his wife Danette of Mechanicsburg; 9 grandchildren, Megan Castranio, Brienne and Michael Bowling, Trey, Olivia and Maxwell Madara, Luke, Aubron and Sophia Swartley.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Gloria Swartley and Shirley Hershman.
Harper served in the U.S. Navy from 1960 to 1964 as a Communications Technician. He graduated from Elizabethtown College with a Bachelor's Degree in Professional Studies and was a member of the first graduating class of Cedar Cliff High School in 1961.
Harper was a Systems Analyst for 32 ½ years with AMP, Inc., Harrisburg, and was a Data Base Analyst for 5 ½ years with the PA Department of Corrections.
He was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Mechanicsburg, as well as an active member of the Masonic Orders including Eureka Lodge # 302 F&AM, Mechanicsburg; Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Harrisburg; Zembo Shrine, A.A.O.N.M.S., Harrisburg and its Legion of Honor; immediate past president of the Cumberland County Shrine Club; and Trio Chapter #544, Order of Eastern Star, Mechanicsburg.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 28, 2007 at 10:30 am in Parthemore Funeral Home & Cremation Services, New Cumberland. Burial will be in Rolling Green Memorial Park, Lower Allen Twp. Viewings will be from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday with a Masonic service at 7:45 p.m. and again on Wednesday one hour prior to services, both at the funeral home.

Robert E. Orner
Robert E. Orner, 77, of Dillsburg passed away Friday, February 9, 2007 in the Manor Care Health Services, Camp Hill.
He was born April 22, 1929 in Warrington Township, York County the son of the late Ervin and Margaret (Urich) Orner.
Robert was a retired manager for Wayne Feed Supply, Dillsburg and had previously worked for Harrisburg Dairy. He was a lifelong member of Barrens United Lutheran Church, Dillsburg and was a member of Eureka Lodge #302, F. & A.M., Mechanicsburg; Harrisburg Consistory; Tall Cedars of Harrisburg and the Zembo Shrine. Robert also served on the Northern York County School Board for 13 years.
Robert is survived by his wife of 56 years, Ila E. (Joseph) Orner; one son, Garry R. Orner of Dillsburg; three brothers, Mearl of Dillsburg, Ray and Elwood, both of Wellsville; two sisters, Betty Albert of Dillsburg and Norma Jean Cook of Chambersburg. He also leaves behind two grandchildren, Michelle and Michael Orner. Robert was also preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Orner and Janet Trump.
Services will be held Monday, February 12, 2007 at 11 a.m., in his church, 232 Kralltown Road, Dillsburg, with his pastor, Rev. Eric Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in the Barrens Salem Union Cemetery. Visitations will be held Sunday from 6-8 p.m., in the Cocklin Funeral Home, Inc., 30 N. Chestnut Street, Dillsburg and on Monday from 10-11 a.m., at the church.

Richard N. Wevodau
Richard Nevin Wevodau, 63, of Mechanicsburg, passed away Monday, January 15, 2007 at his residence.
Born March 24, 1943, in Mechanicsburg, he was the son of the late Nevin W. and Hazel Golden Wevodau.
Richard was a former loan officer with First Bank & Trust of Mechanicsburg, later retired from PNC Bank, and was a former employee of BCA Employee Management Group in Lemoyne. He was a member of Silver Spring Presbyterian Church, Rotary Club of Mechanicsburg, Mechanicsburg Club, Eureka Lodge #302 F&AM, Mechanicsburg Museum Association and the Mechanicsburg Wildcat Foundation. Richard served as Treasurer of the Mechanicsburg Alumni Association, and as a Cub Scout Leader. In addition, Richard volunteered with countless organizations within the Mechanicsburg area.
Surviving are his wife, Emmeline Coons Wevodau; a son, Edward Nevin Wevodau and wife, Kimberly Grapevine of TX; a daughter, Kathleen W., and husband, Kirk Bordlemay of Bozeman, MT; 3 brothers, Victor and Nevin Wevodau, both of Mechanicsburg, and Larry Wevodau of Carlisle; and 3 grandsons, Aidan and Austin Wevodau and Adam Bordlemay.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday in Silver Spring Presbyterian Church, 444 Silver Spring Road, Mechanicsburg. Burial will be in Mechanicsburg Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m., Thursday at Malpezzi Funeral Home, Mechanicsburg.

William Mead Thomas
William (Bill) M. Thomas, 68, passed away at Geisinger Medical Center on Saturday evening, November 4, 2006, as a result of leukemia.
Born in West Pittston on March 5, 1938, he was the son of the late Morgan Phillip and Dorothy Mae (Steever) Thomas.
He was a graduate of Forty Fort High School and received his bachelor and master's degrees from Bloomsburg University. He was employed by the Mechanicsburg Area School District as a teacher from 1960 - 1964 and as their first business manager until his retirement in 1993.
Mr. Thomas was a member of The First Presbyterian Church in Berwick, the Harrisburg Consistory, Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Zembo Shrine, Board of Directors of Seidle Memorial Hospital, Mechanicsburg, and Executives Club of Central PA where he served as president. He was a Past Master of Eureka Lodge No. 302, F&AM, Mechanicsburg, and a former member of Mechanicsburg Presbyterian Church, and Shepherdstown United Methodist Church.
Mr. Thomas was preceded in death by his first wife, Joan Elaine; brothers, Morgan Phillip and James Steever; sister, Shirley Bonnice. Surviving are his second wife, Joan Marie, Berwick; sister, Lois and her husband Jay Stout, Levittown; son, David, Mechanicsburg; daughter, Carol and her husband Jamie Ryan, Cleveland, OH; three grandchildren, Kaela Clay, Hannah Elaine, and Paige Morgan Ryan.
A Masonic Service will be held at 1:45 p.m., followed by the Celebration for his Resurrection Service at 2 p.m. on Sunday, November 12, 2006. They will take place at the First Presbyterian Church, 320 Market Street, Berwick, PA. The Reverend Michael D. Phillips will officiate. There will be a private burial at the Elan Memorial Park in Bloomsburg.

Lyman "Jake" Orr
Lyman "Jake" Orr, 89, of Shiremanstown, died Friday, October 20, 2006 at Manor Care Health Services, Camp Hill.
He was retired from the Navy Supply Depot SPCC, Mechanicsburg. Jake was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II. He was a former member of the Shiremanstown United Methodist Church.
He also belonged to the Hershey Italian Lodge, Officers Club of Mechanicsburg, West Shore Elks #2257, Lions Club, American Legion Post 0109, Mechanicsburg, and the Masonic Eureka Lodge #0302, Mechanicsburg.
Surviving are three daughters, Jo Ann and Max Fields of Eureka, MO, Patti and George Brown of Pottstown, and Susan and Charles Brand of Camp Hill; four grandchildren and five great grandchildren; and a sister, Gladys Ensor of Mechanicsburg.
Graveside services with Military Honors will be held Tuesday, October 24, 2006 at 11 a.m. at Slate Hill Cemetery, 1352 Slate Hill Road, Camp Hill, with his son-in-law, Rev. George M. Brown officiating. There will be no viewing or visitation.

Charles W. Glenn, Sr., 85, of Fairview Township, Lewisberry, PA. passed away Friday, October 13, 2006 at the Harrisburg Hospital.
He was born April 24, 1921, the son of the late Curtis and Helen (Sheaffer) Glenn.
Charles was a retired railroad Supervisor. He was a member of Mt. Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lewisberry; Eureka Lodge #302, Mechanicsburg; Zembo Shrine; Mutual Beneficial Association; PA Railroad Veterans Employee Association and the AARP.
Charles was the widower of Mary C. Glenn.
He is survived by 2 sons, Barry Lee and his wife, Giovanna of Pittsburgh, and (Charles) Skip, Jr. and his wife, Suzanne of Mechanicsburg: 1 daughter, Sheree Lee Dunham of Lewisberry. He also leaves behind 4 grandchildren, Michele Price, Stephanie Glenn, Jason Glenn, Georgia Dunham; and 3 great-granddaughters.
Services will be held Wednesday, October 18, 2006 at
11 a.m., in his church, 863 Lewisberry Road., Lewisberry, PA, with his pastor the Rev. Timothy L.
Hoffman officiating. Burial will follow in the Emanuel Cemetery, Lewisberry. A viewing will be held Wednesday from 10-10:45 a.m., with Masonic services at 10:45 a.m., at the church.

Elmer H. W. Humer
Elmer H. W. Humer, age 87, formerly of Wertzville Road, died Friday, September 15, 2006 at the Church of God Home.
Born November 18, 1918 in Mechanicsburg, he was a son of the late G. Milton and Henrietta Waggoner Humer.
Elmer retired from the former Olmstead Air Force Base and the New Cumberland Army Depot. He was a life member of Young's United Methodist Church, where he maintained the property and was actively involved with many other areas of the church.
He was a member of Eureka Lodge #302 F & AM and a World War II Veteran of the U.S. Army. Elmer was known for his impeccable garden and was an avid hunter.
He is survived by his wife Violet E. Miller Humer; two daughters, Bonnie L. and husband Earl Hollinger, Nancy A. and husband Larry Parmer all of Mechanicsburg; three granddaughters, Sheri Henderson, Brenda Vasanski and Rebecca Hollinger; four great grandchildren, Keisha Heisey who Elmer and Violet helped raise, Jonelle Heisey, Bryan Henderson and Elise Henderson.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Betty Jane Heisey and four brothers, Glenn, Milton, Willard and his twin Wilbur.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Wednesday in his church with the Rev. Ronald C. Hoffman officiating. Burial will be in Stone Church Cemetery.
There will be a viewing from 10 to 11 AM Wednesday at the church.

Joseph Curtis Owens, Sr.
Joseph Curtis Owens, Sr., 69, of Mechanicsburg, passed away Saturday, August 5, 2006 at his residence.
Mr. Owens was born and raised on the west side of Steelton, on December 9, 1936. He was the son of the late Ellsworth and Harriet (Manmiller) Owens.
Joe is survived by his wife, Gladys (Peterman) Owens; a son, Joseph C. Owens, Jr., and wife, Cleo of Middletown; a daughter, Holly Lee Owens of Mechanicsburg; step-children, Charles Bretzman of Arizona; Phyllis Henneman of Carlisle; Rose Neidig, and Carmella Colban, both of Mechanicsburg; 2 sisters, Margaret "Peggy" Owens of Steelton and Janet Gingrich of Middletown; 8 grandchildren, Lacie, Rachel and Joseph Owens; Zachary Garman; Anthony Ferrari, Cara Colban, Kama Nichols and Penni Dehart; and his faithful Basset hound, Elmer.
Joe served the Shiremanstown Community as Chief of Police for the past 25 years, and had previously served as Chief of Police for Mechanicsburg Police Department, retiring from that position in 1978. Joe has dedicated his life to Law Enforcement and serving his community.
He was a graduate of the Steelton High School, Class of 1955, graduated from the PA State Police Municipal Police Academy in 1967. He was a member of the F.O.P.A., Mechanicsburg Club, Welsh Society, Eureka Lodge #302 F&AM Zembo Temple and Harrisburg Consistory. He was also active in the Friends of the National Parks at Gettysburg.
Funeral Services will be held at Myers Funeral Home, Mechanicsburg, at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, August 9th, with The Reverend William C. Butts officiating.
Interment will be private an at the convenience of the family. Viewing will be Tuesday from 6 to 9 p.m. and again Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m. at Myers Funeral Home, Mechanicsburg. A Masonic Service will be held at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Myers Funeral Home.

John N. Mower, 82, of Mechanicsburg, passed away
Sunday, June 4, 2006 at the Bridges at Bent Creek.
Mr. Mower was born in Rainsburg, Pennsylvania, on
February 11, 1924. He was the son of the late Norman
and Edith (Cessna) Mower.
He retired from M.S.P.C.C.
John belonged to numerous organizations. He was a life
member and former treasurer of the Mechanicsburg Club,
a member of Eureka Lodge #302, Ancient Accepted
Scottish Rite of Harrisburg, Zembo Temple Shrine of
Harrisburg, VFW 6704, Zembo Luncheon Club, Cumberland

He served in the US Army in World War II.
He is survived by his sister, Phyllis Baumgardner of
Mechanicsburg, 2 nephews; Tom Baumgardner and John

Baumgardner, 2 great nephews and a great niece.
Funeral services will be held at Myers Funeral Home,
Mechanicsburg, at 11:00 on Thursday, June 8th, with
Reverend John C. Grove officiating.
Burial will be in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens,
Carlisle.

Roy E. Cook
Roy E. Cook, 71, of Mechanicsburg, passed away Tuesday, May 9, 2006, at Holy Spirit Hospital.
Roy was born in Camp Hill, PA, on November 29, 1934, the son of the late Burman A. and Helen E. (Reed) Cook.
He was a member of Mechanicsburg Church of the Brethren.
Roy was a Nationwide Agent at Roy E. Cook Agency Mechanicsburg for 47 years.

He served in the U.S. Army and in the U.S. Army Air Force.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Alberta L. (Johns) Cook; 2 daughters, Desra C., wife of Robert Keenan of Perkiomenville, PA and Laurie C., wife of Bryon Benner of Newport; 3 grandchildren, Caitlin Keenan, Thadeus Benner, and Lydia Benner; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 4 brothers, Frank, Harry, Lawrence and Robert Cook.
Graveside services will be held in Rolling Green Memorial Park, Camp Hill, Saturday, May 13th at 11 a.m. where there will also be Masonic services.

LIVERPOOL - Louis J. Holcombe, 69, entered into
eternal rest Friday, March 24, 2006 at the Holy Spirit
Hospital, Camp Hill.
Louis was born on December 9, 1936 in Harrisburg, the
son of the late John L. "Babe" "Hoke" and Gertrude
(Moan) Holcombe.
He was owner of Holcombe Enterprises, Liverpool, a
certified vehicle escort company; was a U.S. Navy
Veteran; a member of American Legion Post #364,
Liverpool; the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley
of Harrisburg, PA; the Zembo Shriners A.A.O.N.M.S., of
Harrisburg; and the Eureka Lodge No. 302, Free and
Accepted Mason's, Mechanicsburg.
Louis is survived by twins, daughter, Corrine Bryan,
wife of Kevin of Liverpool; a son, Forrest L. Holcombe
of Liverpool; a grandson, Keigan N. Holcombe;
step-mother, Jessie (Robertson) Holcombe of Liverpool;
former spouse, Dale Post-Holcombe of Newport; and
cousins.
Following cremation, a memorial service will be held
at a later date, at the discretion of the family.

Rev. Valentine H. Derr
The Rev. Valentine H. Derr, age 87, of Hampden
Township, died Sunday, March 5, 2006 at West Shore
Health and Rehab Center.
Born January 7, 1919 in Wormleysburg, he was a son of
the late Henry Valentine and Ruth Hummel Derr.
He was retired from L. B. Smith and was a retired
pastor from the First Church of God. Rev. Derr served
the following churches during his tenure as a pastor,
Marysville; Roaring Springs; Frederick, MD;
Mechanicsburg and Shopes Bethel, Harrisburg.
He was a graduate of Winebrenner Theological Seminary,
Findlay, OH, was a member of Mechanicsburg First
Church of God, Eureka Lodge 302 F & AM, American
Legion Post 10, DAV Camp Hill and POW/MIA Chapter. He
was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II and was
captured as a Prisoner of War until the liberation.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Emma Zeiders Derr; a son,
Stanley Derr of Fairfax, VA; two daughters, Kathryn
Swope of Dillsburg, Barbara Varner of Etters; six
grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at
Mechanicsburg First Church of God, 28 East Main
Street, Mechanicsburg with the Rev. Bradley Moore
officiating. Burial will be in Mechanicsburg Cemetery.
There will be a viewing from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at
the church.

Franklin Thau Klink, Jr., died Sunday, February 5,
2006 in Naples, Florida.
Born in Philadelphia, PA, he resided in Quincy
Township, PA.
He will be missed by his wife of 51 years, Dorothy,
four children, Franklin III, of Greencastle, PA, Paul
of Columbia, MD, Ruth Romako of New Cumberland, PA,
and Andrew of Phoenix, AZ. He will also be greatly
missed by his 14 grandchildren and sister, Barbara
Walker of Hudson, Ohio.
He served in Korea with the United States Marine Corps
after graduating from Frankford High School,
Philadelphia, PA. He retired from the Mechanicsburg
Navy Depot in 1986, after serving 28 years.
He was active in the American Legion Post 109,
Mechanicsburg, PA, Boy Scouts of America,
Shiremanstown Lions Club, Carlisle Fish and Game
Association, a member of Eureka Lodge F & AM and
Harrisburg Consistory.
He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church,
Shiremanstown.
A memorial service will be held there on Saturday,
February 11th at 10 a.m.

Edward S. Syvertson, 80, passed away on Dec. 30, 2005.
He was born on Mar. 7, 1925, in Brooklyn, N.Y., and
came to Florida, in 1980, from N.Y. He was an Army
Veteran and member of Masons, Moose and VFW. Survivors
include his wife, of 51 years, Elizabeth; son, Edward,
Jr. (Barbara), Dillsburg, Pa.; daughter, Susan
Fletcher (Jeff), Babylon, N.Y; sisters: Clara Jensen,
Alice Allan, Doris Mott, five grandchildren. Memorial

VANCE V. WAGGONER
Vance V. Waggoner, 80, of Mechanicsburg, entered into
eternal rest, Thursday, December 29, 2005 at his
residence.
He was born in Enola, PA on December 6, 1925, the son
of the late Herman A. and Martha B. (Vogelsong)
Waggoner.
He retired from a career in Data Processing with the
Navy and Air Force. He was a member of Young's United
Methodist Church, Mechanicsburg; Eureka Lodge No. 302
F&AM; Harrisburg Consistory; Capital Area Scottish
Rite Club; and Zembo Shrine Zembo Luncheon Club.
He also served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World
War II, having participated, and was wounded, received
the Purple Heart in the Battle of Iwo Jima. He was a
Life Member of the 4th Division Association, Iwo Jima
Survivors Association, VFW Post 6704 and the Disabled
American Veterans. He was also a member of the
American Legion Post 109 and NARFE Chapter 1816.
Vance is survived by his wife of 56 1/2 years,
Beatrice R. (Jones) Waggoner; a daughter, Christine A.
"Steven" Brunner of Covington, IN; 2 grandsons, Aaron
"Stacey" Brunner of Lancaster, CA and Chad Brunner of Twinsburg, Ohio; a foster daughter, Carolyn Telega of Harrisburg; 2 brothers, Keith and "Helen" Waggoner and Dale Waggoner of Enola; 2 sisters, Kathleen and "Lawrence" Eichelberger of Dillsburg; and Aldeanna Auker of New Cumberland. He was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Daniel, Garth and Gary Waggoner. Funeral services will be held in Young's United Methodist Church, Mechanicsburg at 11 a.m., Wednesday, January 4, 2005, with the Rev. Ronald C. Hoffman officiating. Frederick D. Myers, Jr., 86, died on Wednesday, December 28, 2005, at The Brethren Home Community. He was the husband of Magdalene S. (Zimmerman) Myers. Born June 1, 1919, in Mechanicsburg, he was the son of the late Frederick D.
and Sarah E. (Brackbill) Myers, Sr. Mr. Myers was a member of the Eureka Masonic Lodge 302 and Paradise "Holtzschwamm" Lutheran Church in Thomasville. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Elaine F. Shoemaker of East Berlin, Patricia A. Gardner of Dover, and Jo Ann Rinehart of Dover; one son, Robert A. JAMES R. AUBREY
James R. Aubrey, 72, of Mechanicsburg, died in his
home Sunday, November 13, 2005.
Born September 17, 1933 in Hodgenville, KY, James
enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1952 and retired as a
Chief Petty Officer in November 1973.
After attending HACC and graduating from Capital
Campus with a BA in Business Administration, James
worked as a nursing home administrator and was
appointed as the First Commandant of Southeastern
Pennsylvania State Veterans Home, a position he held
until his retirement in 1994.
A Vietnam Veteran, James belonged to the Fleet Reserve Association Branch 106, Mechanicsburg, VFW 6771 South Mountain Post, Dillsburg; DAV Chapter 50, Camp Hill; West Shore Elks Lodge 2257; Eureka Lodge 302, F & AM, Mechanicsburg; and the Harrisburg Consistory. James was a life member of American Legion Post 602, Spring City, PA, and was recently inducted into the Southeastern Veterans Center Hall of Fame, also in Spring City. The Aubrey family attends St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Mechanicsburg. He is survived by his loving wife, Ruth; his son, Brian of Duncannon; his daughter, Marcia of Carlisle; a brother, Daniel of Hodgenville, KY; a sister, Lois Hornback, also of Hodgenville, KY; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday in St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Mechanicsburg. Burial with military honors will follow in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. RICHARD (DICK) HAMPTON
Died from cancer on October 17,
2005, at his daughter's home in Camp Hill. He was 71.
Mr. Hampton was born on April 26, 1934, in Camden, NJ.
He was the son of the late John and Helen Hampton of
York. His beloved wife of 44 years, Bonnie Balmer
Hampton, predeceased him in October 2000.
Dick is survived by his daughters and their husbands,
Kelly and Eric Greensmith of Hummelstown, and Toni and
Joseph Rakoski of Camp Hill; and by his grandchildren,
Peter and Claire Greensmith; and step-grandsons, Joey,
Mike and Kevin Rakoski; a brother, John C. Hampton II
of Milton, PA; two sisters, Helen Martin of
Pennsauken, NJ and Geraldine Simpson of Aston, PA; and
many other extended family members.
Dick was a graduate of York High School and attended
Lafayette College. He lived throughout the country
while serving in the U.S. Army and during a long
career in the missile electronics field. Upon his
return to York County, he worked in property
maintenance and real estate sales. He was a member of
the Dillsburg Lions Club, the Masonic Eureka Lodge
302, the South Mountain VFW Post 6771, the Camp Hill
Elks Club, the Penn Coachmen and the Family Motor
Coach Association. He was an avid NASCAR fan and loved traveling throughout North America in his motor coach. Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 22, 2005, in the Neill Funeral Home, Inc., 3401 Market Street, Camp Hill. He was employed by Harrisburg Auto Auction,
Mechanicsburg and retired from the truck
ing industry. He was a member of Mechanicsburg Church

was an avid fisherman, hunter and camper, and was a
loving husband, father and grandfather.
Surviving are his wife, Rosalie M. Dunham Fike; a son,

daughters, Tina (Jim) Miller of West Fairview, Jill M.
(Lee) Bretz and Sally L. Fike, both of Mechanicsburg;

Austin.

Age 83, of Franklintown,
passed away Monday morning, July 25, 2005 at the
Church of God Home, Carlisle, PA.
Ted was born Monday, December 5, 1921 in Franklintown,
York County, PA, the son of the late Chester B. and
Delilah J. Byers Shope.
Ted was a retired Supply Clerk for the New Cumberland
Army Depot and a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II. He
was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church and
attended Monaghan Presbyterian Church, both of
Dillsburg. He was also a member of the Eureka Lodge
#302 F&AM, the Harrisburg Consistory, the Zembo
Shrine, the Dillsburg South Mountain VFW Post 6771 and
the Mechanicsburg American Legion, Post 109. He was a
former member of the Mechanicsburg Club and the
Carlisle Elks #578.
Ted is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Lois
M. Yeingst Shope; his son and daughter-in-law, Edgar

87, formerly of Mechanicsburg,
passed away Sunday, July 3, 2005 at Lancaster General
Hospital.
Mr. Trimble was born in Mechanicsburg on September 27,
1917, the son of the late Herman and Romaine
(Hertzler) Trimble.
He was retired from the Commonwealth of PA and was the
former owner operator of Case O Beer and The
Mechanicsburg Beverage Distributor.
Bob was a graduate of Mechanicsburg High School and
Mullenberg College.
He was a lifetime member of Trinity Evangelical
Lutheran Church, Mechanicsburg; Past President of the Mechanicsburg School Board; charter member of the Mechanicsburg Club; a member of American Legion Post #109; VFW Post #6704; and Eureka Lodge #302, F & AM, all of Mechanicsburg. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II. He is survived by his wife, Cora C. (Cockley) Trimble; 3 daughters, Judy, wife of Jim Sauve of Camp Hill, Nancy, wife of Rob Gipson of Moorestown, NJ and Betsey, wife of Larry Nolen of Loysville; a brother, Thomas Trimble of Mechanicsburg; 8 grandchildren, James, Jeffrey, Jeremy and John Sauve, Lissa Gipson, Emily LeLand, Meggan Morrison and Cori Zeigler; and 7 great-grandchildren. HICKORY - Clyde David Stone, 82, of Hickory, died June
20, 2005, at Frye Regional Medical Center.
Born July 14, 1922, in Carlisle, Pa., he was a son of

by Consolidated Railroad in Pennsylvania as a
locomotive engineer for 41 years; was a Mason of

Harrisburg, Pa.; a member of Consistery Scottish Rite
and Zembo Temple AAONMS; Zembo Legion of Honor past
commander; fire chief with Silver Spring Community
Fire Co.; a member of the Harrisburg Forest National Association of Retired Federal Employees; and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Charlotte Stone. Survivors include his wife, Frances Miller Stone of Hickory; two sons, Gary L. Stone of Hickory and Maurice C. Stone of Bowie, Md.; a daughter, Cynthia S. Beley of Conifer, Colo.; three sisters, Esther R. Wilson, Mildred Barock and Mary Birchmire; a brother, Jack Stone; nine great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. The funeral service will be conducted by the Rev. He was born October 24, 1921, in Lenkerville, PA, to
the late Philip Franklin and Ruth (Garman) Meader. In
addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his
former wife, Alva J. Morningstar Meader and sister,
Virginia J. Priest.
He is survived by his devoted partner of twenty-two
years, Elizabeth T. Heddy; a son, Clark D. Meader, Jr.
and his wife, Harriet of Goochland, VA; two
grandchildren, Tyler and Carter; and a
great-granddaughter, Elena and a niece, Dixie Eastman. George H. Green
81, of Carlisle, passed away
Wednesday, May 4, 2005 at his residence.
Mr. Green was born in Pittsburgh, PA, on February 18,
1924 and was the son of the late George B. and Jean
(Henderson) Green.
George retired as a school principal and teacher from
various districts in PA and OH. He was a member of
First United Methodist Church, Mechanicsburg, a life
member of VFW Post 6704, Mechanicsburg, Eureka Lodge
#302 F&AM and The Harrisburg Consistory. He served in
the U.S. Army Air Corps in World War II and was a
Veteran of the PA National Guard and Air Force
Reserves.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth J. Green; 8
children and 10 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held in Myers Funeral Home, Mechanicsburg at 11:30 a.m., on Wednesday, May 11th. Burial with Full Military Honors will be held on Wednesday at 1 p.m., in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. There will be a viewing on Tuesday, from 6 to 8p.m. and Wednesday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., at the funeral home. WILBER W. FISHER
86, of Dillsburg, passed away
Saturday, April 16, 2005 at the Holy Spirit Hospital,
Camp Hill.
He was born May 16, 1918 in Dillsburg, PA, the only
child of the late Willis and Mabel (Wolf) Fisher.
Wilbur was the former owner and operator of Fisher
Lumber and Hardware, Dillsburg, from 1946 until 1980
and then operated Fisher's Storage until 2000. He
served in the Army Air Corps., during World War II and
was a member of the South Mountain V.F.W., Post #6771
and the American Legion, both of Dillsburg. Wilbur was
a member of Calvary United Methodist Church,
Dillsburg, where he sang in the church choir. He
served as a former Dillsburg Boro. council member and
the Dillsburg Sewer and Water Authority. He was also a
member of the Eureka Lodge #302, F. & A.M.,
Mechanicsburg; Dillsburg Lions Club; I.O.O.F., York;
Will Fisher's Orchestra; Northern York County
Historical & Preservation Society and the Williams
Grove Steam Engine Association.
Wilbur is survived by his wife, Gwendolyn H. (Freije)
Fisher; 2 daughters, Linda F. Hersey of Felton and
Donna L. Lucrezio of Cambridge, NY; 5 grandchildren,
Brad Hersey, and Elizabeth, Aaron, Jennifer, and
Nathan Lucrezio.
Services will be held Wednesday, April 20, 2005 at 11
a.m., in his church, 201 Mumper Lane, Dillsburg, with
his pastor the Rev. Edward E. Prowant officiating.
Burial will follow in the Dillsburg Cemetery-Mountian
Rd. A viewing will be held Wednesday from 10-11 a.m.,
at the church.

John O. Ginter, Jr.
Formerly of Mechanicsburg, died
in Ocala, FL, on March 3, 2005. He was the loving
husband of the late Margaret Ginter.
John was born on June 9, 1921, to the late John O.
and Kathryn Ginter.
He was a scholar and football athlete at
Mechanics-burg High School. He was a U. S. Navy
Veteran, retired truck driver for Helms Trucking
Company, a long-term member of the Mechanicsburg Club,
the Masons and a member of The Shepherdstown Methodist
Church.
John is survived by his son, Rod Ginter and grandson, Christian Ginter of Ocala, FL, with whom he lived; one granddaughter, Mindy Miller of York; a grandson, Damen
(Rich) Ginter of Newville; one great-granddaughter;
two great-grandsons; three step-daughters; several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother, Robert Ginter of East Berlin and several nieces and nephews. Ralph Alexander Wardrop
Known as "Alex", 85, of
Whitehall, PA, formerly of 409 E. Marble Street,
Mechanicsburg and E.C.C. Retirement Village - Stone
Ridge Campus, Myerstown, died March 3, 2005 in the
Reading Hospital & Medical Center, West Reading.
He was the husband of the late Lorene (Long) Wardrop,
who died March 25, 2004.
Born in Bear Gap, PA, he was the son of the late
Ralph Thirloway and Grace (Sanders) Wardrop.
He was a Nuclear Boiler Inspector for the Hartford
Steam Boiler Insurance Company, retiring in 1984.
He was an Army Veteran of World War II and a member
of Mechanicsburg Presbyterian Church, Mechanicsburg.
He was a graduate of Coal Township High School and a
licensed Professional Gunsmith for 50 years. He was a
champion bench rest shooter for many years. He was a
life member of the National Rifle Association, a
member of the Kiwanis Club, Mechanicsburg, Eureka
Lodge No. 302 F&AM and Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite
Valley of Harrisburg, PA.
Surviving are 2 sons, James C. Wardrop of Whitehall,
PA and Ralph A. Wardrop of Columbia, PA; also 2
granddaughters, Dr. Stephanie E. Rhodes and Gwynne E.
Philbrook and 3 great-grandchildren, Grace E. Rhodes,
Gordon Henry Rhodes and Alex Wardrop Philbrook.
Services will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m., in St.
Peter's United Church of Christ, Paxinos, PA. Burial
will be in St. Peter's (Blue Church) Cemetery.

Samuel M. Simmons, Jr.
86, of Monroe Township, died Wednesday, February 2, 2005 at Harrisburg Hospital. Born December 25, 1918 in Monroe Township, he was a son of the late Samuel M. and Elsie Hess Simmons. He was a lifelong Cumberland County Dairy Farmer, was a member of the U.S. Trotting Association and Eureka Lodge 302 F&AM. He was the widower of Celesta Stare Simmons. Surviving are his son and daughter-in-law, Samuel M. and Suzanne Simmons III. He was also preceded in death by his grandson, Samuel M. Simmons IV; and his brother, Raymond Simmons. Graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family in Mechanicsburg Cemetery. Rev. James R. Richwine will officiate.

died Thursday, January 6, 2005 at his home.
He was retired from the former Defense Supply Agency, Mechanicsburg, PA; was a graduate of Faribault High School, Faribault, MN and was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II and Korea. Duane was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church Harrisburg; The Disabled American Veterans; Eureka Lodge #302 F&AM, Mechanicsburg; Harrisburg Consistory and The National Association of Retired Federal Employees. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty A. Bauer. He is survived by wife, Lois V. Bauer; a daughter, Marguerite L. "Peg" Christy of Pittsburgh, PA; a son, David D. Bauer of Etters, PA; step-son, David W. Heller of Coatesville, PA; step-daughter, Margaret S. Stike of Parksburg, PA; a sister, Betty Bauernfeind of Canon City, MN and three grandchildren.
