Dues of Wilmington Lodge No,. 804
(This page was last updated on 12 March 2010 at 22:25 )

The Dues of Wilmington Lodge No. 804 are $70.00 for the 2010 Masonic Year.  This is less than the cost of a cup of coffee each week.

The Dues of Wilmington Lodge No. 804 were $65.00 for the 2009 Masonic Year.

Perhaps our dues are not high enough.  Human nature seems to be such that we appreciate things more if we have to pay more for them.  A 40,000.00 car is usually desired, by many people, a lot more than a $10,000.00 car, even though both do exactly the same thing which is to haul you and your stuff from one point on the planet Earth to another point on the same planet.  Freemasonry is worth a lot to good Freemasons.  The membership dues are a real bargain.  Please pay them on time as soon as the dues notices are sent.  Treat your Brethren properly and pay your dues on time or early.

Dues are to be paid by the end of each year for the upcoming year.  Dues should be sent to the Secretary of the Lodge by the due date.  Dues can also be paid to the Secretary or Treasurer at any meeting of the Lodge.  Checks or Money Orders can be sent via the US Mail or cash can be accepted at the meetings.  Please do not send cash through the mail.

The dues are used to cover the expenses of the Lodge.  Twenty Dollars ($20.00) of each member's dues are to cover the cost of the dues of the Grand Lodge of Pennsylvania.  The remaining amount of $45.00 is for the use of Wilmington Lodge No. 804 to cover normal operating expenses.

It is the desire of the Grand Lodge of Pennsylvania to raise the dues to $25.00 per year per Mason starting with the 2010 Masonic Year.  They, like most people and other Lodges, saw a major decrease in the value of their investments during 2008 but they seem to wish to recover these losses by forcing the other Masons, who also lost a lot of money, to pay more dues.  Perhaps the Grand Lodge of Pennsylvania should tighten their belts like the rest of us had to do.  As of September it is unknown if this will happen as it depends upon a vote by the members of the Grand Lodge of Pennsylvania.

Please pay your dues by the due date as it costs the Lodge money and it costs the Secretary a lot of extra time, and it costs the Lodge a lot of extra money, to notify inconsiderate delinquent members to pay their dues.

If a Brother  feels that paying his dues will cause a true financial hardship to him or his family the Brother should notify the Secretary or the Worshipful Master of that fact as soon as possible and at least before the December Stated meeting.  Masons are there to help but you need to ask.

If you wish to resign from your Lodge and still remain in Good Masonic Standing, please notify the Secretary in writing before the October meeting so that there is enough time for the Lodge to take action to accept your resignation.
