Zero or 0

Zero is the mathematical Symbol used to indicate nothing or no items.

The concept of Zero, like all numbers, is probably a creation of mankind.  There is no Year 0 because the concept of using something like a Symbol to represent nothing did not develop, at least in the so-called known world, until long after the Birth of Jesus Christ.

I seem to recall that the Zero is often considered to have been invented by a Muslim, however long before the Muslim Religion even existed some natives of the Americas were using their term for Zero.

Zero added to any number does not change the number.  A + 0 = A

Zero times any number equals Zero. (A)(0) = 0

Normally numbers are not allowed to be divided by Zero as the answer is undefined.  Sometimes the answer of division by Zero is thought of as being infinity, which is not defined.

The Romans had no symbol for Zero.  No wonder they failed.

Zero was also the name given to a pretty good Japanese fighter aircraft during WW2.  It was rather effective during the beginning of the war, but later on it proved no match for the wonderful American fighters that we developed such as the North American P-51 Mustang.

Zero is also the name of a not so bright soldier in the comic strip Beetle Bailey.
